So we've had a long 24 hours for our household.
To allay any immediate panic, our boy is stable and at the vet hospital for investigation.
Last night, around 11:30, as we were getting ready for bed, our 2 year old sphynx jumped/fell from the end of our bed. He's a bit of a klutz, so we didn't immediately panic.
...Until when my partner went to check on him and he was totally limp and let out the longest yowl I've ever heard from him. He seemed alert the whole time, regained his motor function in the 60 seconds it took us to panic dress, and we're pretty sure our panic scared him.
Corralled him into his carrier, both of us terrified, as he was not making any sound or licking our fingers when we put them in front of him (kind of a habit of his).
He was alert and attentive the whole time we were out, but that wasn't going to convince us nothing was wrong.
The first clinic didn't notice any injuries or wounds (thank goodness!), but they did pick up a slight arrhythmia when listening to his heart. His usual vet has never mentioned anything along those lines, so we were obviously concerned for him.
We ended up at 2 other emergency clinics to try and find a cardiologist or get booked with one. Overall, we had 4 clinic staff confirm he was showing the arrhythmia, and ended up begrudgingly leaving him at the third clinic in hopes their cardiologist could fit him in for a cardiac workup.
Received word at 9 am that his blood work was being processed and they could do the workup for him today. It's now 1:30 pm, and my partner called to check in a few minutes ago.
Apparently our little man hasn't eaten (he's picky and very likely stressing, so we're not surprised, but he does have some of his wet food with him for them to try). He's also not super fond of the other cats in the vet kennels, and was given some Gravol to settle him down.
Legitimately, this was kind of encouraging for me, as last night he was quite low energy. So it sounds like he's perked up a bit.
The waiting is utterly brutal, neither of us has slept much and we miss our little gremlin boy like crazy (even though it's literally only been 10 hours).
We're bracing for the potential of a more serious heart problem, the breed being pretty prone to them. Hopefully we've caught whatever this is early enough to take some preventative measures.
Fingers crossed he can come home today and we get some answers. The not knowing is agony.
