Pharaoh came with his name. I liked it, so I kept it.

When I got Amen-Ra, I wanted to have an Egyptian name to match Pharaoh. He was almost called Tau or Osiris but I liked how Amen-Ra sounded and liked that he was the god of the universe.

When Amen-Ra passed and I got Vega, I decided not to keep doing Egyptian names. I didn't want to name him after Amen-Ra, but wanted a name which would have a hint of him in it as I do believe that he chose him for me. My boyfriend and I would say that Amen-Ra was the biggest and brightest star in the sky. I googled which star actually was the biggest and brightest star in the sky and it has one of those crazy r2d2 names that only mean something to astronomers. I then looked at the biggest brightest stars on the human visibility spectrum. Number one is the Sun (Ra!) but I saw Vega on the list and liked that as a name. Bonus: Vic Vega is the name of Mr. Blonde of the Reservoir Dogs

My advisor is college was Linda Vega. She said she married her husband because his surname was so awesome!!

Actually, the real story is that she had gotten one of his used textbooks in college, seen his name written inside and thought, "that is such a cool last name--I'm marrying that kid." She eventually ended up meeting him randomly at a party and, well, her prophecy came true! How funny, right?

That is a great story! Love it!

When going to get our little bundle of joy it seemed as though the people that owned him before us never cut his claws. -__-
We named him Kruger because on the ride home he left a few noted scratch marks from the trip, along with Freddy Kruger being my favorite horror movie villain and he is a blue tabby so he has strips one him like Freddy's sweater.
Luckily he is more of a sweetheart than the noted horror movie villain. :)

My little baldy is called Elvis. I think Sphynx look little little kings and queens, so his full name is King Elvis, I'm also a big Elvis fan and he's just so handsome (my little guy but Elvis sure was as well :p) It really suits him and his Dad is called Gabriel after Peter Gabriel so it all kind of clicked together.

I love this thread! Kyro was already named when we got him from his breeder and I loved it so we kept it. We are still trying to figure out a name for our new little guy. My dogs are Shasta and Fresca. I named Shasta first because I liked it and when we rescued Fresca her name was Babe and I didn't care for it (makes me think of the pig on that movie). So she was names Fresca to go with Shasta :)

Nym and Smidget came named. My brother still begrudges me for not naming one of them "Fluffy". My argument there is that it's already been done.

The theme for Nym and her siblings was taking the letters from Mom and Dad's names and scrambling them. I was originally going to adopt Pandora along with Nym, and their mother's name was Tonks. You can see what was going on there. :D

Smidget is a petite critter. Weighing in at a mere 6 pounds at her full growth, she is a midget. She's also a sweetheart, so they named her Smidget. We call her "Smidge" for short.

Osiris : When I decided I wanted a sphynx, I was looking for names. The first one I thought of was Olympia, and I wanted her to be a black girl. When I went to my breeder she said I can't guarantee there will be a black girl, it may be a boy. So my hubby said, well if it's a boy I get to name it. So I said okay, and he chose Osiris. When we went to pick out kitty, my breeder brought up 3; a very dark girl, a lilac girl, and a pink little boy. She had brought him up just to show us what a pink one would look like, and I immediately fell in love.

Olympia: The story above. A year after we got Osiris, my breeder called me.. she had a little black girl. I went to meet her and fell in love. She has sadly passed away, but she will never be replaced :)

My future names are Ophelia (which will probably be my next girl) and finally Odysseus (final boy, I put a cap at three.. which wont last). I put up a thread asking for O name suggestions (a theme I went with without even thinking about it).
