I have no idea what to do as I have accidentally bred my sphynx to an HCM male. She’s 100% healthy and the person lied about him being healthy. I discovered that he has HCM through this website actually. What are the chances of the babies getting it? What can I do? Please give me any info you can provide because I am scared, angry, and more.

Try not to panic. It does not mean the kittens will 100% develop HCM. But it definitely takes a hit on your reputation as a breeder which has to have you furious. Being transparent to any who will purchase the kittens is important. Also reduced price etc would be expected. It is very unfortunate for sure. I am so sorry you are experiencing this.

@Alexa mendosa , oh my heart, I echo catzzzmeow's reply. there are no guarantees and reputation is important.

I cannot imagine how upsetting this must be. hugs n thriving vibes to mum and future born kitties. was this HCM male ever tested for anything else, corona, etc. I would ask for copies of vet records. (not sure if terminating pregnancy is an option? that is a discussion for you and your vet as it is a delicate subject and not sure if she was just mated.). is this a different mum kitty than the 5 day old babies?

I personally because of the circumstances would not charge a fee for the babies and make full disclosure. I would have all kittens spayed/ neutered at my cost before placing them and advising them of the commitment to do hcm screening/cost. Also what guarantee do you provide such as this example listed in the reputable breeder thread :

13.) Look at the warranty - a great standard is the cat/kitten is guaranteed against congenital defects up until it’s 1 year old. Should it die within this time due to a congenital defect the kitten/cat will be replaced by one of the same quality and value when next available, only if necropsy has been preformed and a certificate from your vet is provided as proof of the cause of death. Kitten is guaranteed for 14 days against feline viruses/diseases.
more in this link that may be useful for reference

a heartfelt learning experience and prayers all babies would be okay

Is your girl HCM scanned? scan regularly? for any future breeding I would go slow and do lots of research and documentation of stud HCM scans, if tested for corona virus etc before going forward.

please keep us updated. hugs and head smooches to your baby

Hey so it was actually a mistake, and it was the wrong person.

Turns out it was the wrong person, I’m so embarrassed. And yes she is HCM tested.

Seems a bit off…did you not get proof of HCM free (actual reports) before breeding ?
