Speaking of Inbreeding...what are the "norms" in the Sphynx lines for % of inbreeding.
At which point should one worry and / or shy away from a cat?

There was a lot of inbreeding originally when the breed was growing. Unless you know 100% what you are doing and know the lines in and out, its not something to go into without the knowledge.

As far as buying a Sphynx is concerned, as long as you are aware that it raises the percentage of genetic issues (If daddy has something nasty in his history, and you breed him to his brothers daughter, you've raised the risk of the kittens having that issue or passing it on.)

My .02 is I wouldn't inbreed/ line breed, as I'm honest enough to say I don't know enough about genetics to do it comfortably.

I understand all the reasons to not inbreed, but I also realize that it was/is done in order to refine a breed. But more wondering what is inside the range of normal...I have seen some at 2% and a lot at 6% then some at 10%...just wondering what the norm is out there in pets and or breeding stock.

Not sure, sorry. I will have to research it more.

I found this online but I don't know if its for cats or all animals

Father/daughter – mother/son – brother/sister → 25%
Half-brother/half-sister → 12.5%
Uncle/niece – aunt/nephew → 12.5%
Double first cousins → 12.5%
Half-uncle/niece → 6.25%
First cousins → 6.25%
First cousins once removed – half-first cousins → 3.125%
Second cousins – first cousins twice removed → 1.5625%
Second cousins once removed – half-second cousins → .78125%

Fr0m my understanding it would equate to my dad's (or mom's) cousin would be my cousin once removed which I think is the same as 2nd cousins...but maybe I have that wrong! That's just how I have always thought of it!

Yep that's how it works...

your parents cousin =your 2nd cousin or cousin once removed...

if that person has children they are your 2nd cousin once removed...

if they then have children (and you're still alive) they are your 2nd cousin twice removed...and so on!
