Hello everyone

I'm getting a Sphynx kitten soon, and have already picky out a name (5e). I have had cats all my life, however I have been cat-less for a year and a half. I finally decided I was ready to <del>enslave myself </del>open my home to a new kitty.

about me: database admin, {pen/paper|LARP|pc} gamer, loves bad puns ( ask me about immoral porpoises).

About my kitty: I don't know much about him yet, I've contacted the breeder, she promised to hold him. I will be sending the deposit Friday. he's a boy, was born on Halloween, and looked like this: on Nov. 12.2009

yup, 5e.

background: I'm a computer geek (database administrator by day, gamer/home programmer by night). so I figured I'd need a cat name that reflected that interest.

so I ended up with cat 5e otherwise known as Ethernet cabling.

I pronounce the name as fivey.

A little bit of thread necromancy...

Over the weekend I was able to finally get my new buddy and take him home.


He seems to be in wonderful health -- I will be having that confirmed by a Vet shortly. Of course I'm doing the new parent thing of worrying at everything...

He does have feline herpes, but the breeder let me know that was the case before I even put down the deposit. He was 'broken'(neutering is all about removing features) on the 13th -- and as a result of that had a mild flair up (nose crusties). That has all cleared up now.

I can attest to the effectiveness of the feliway/pheromone products -- I got a collar for him with the anti-anxiety pheromone and he hasn't even been doing the 'where's mom gone' searching.

One thing I will either have to teach him (or adjust to ) is that when 5e wakes up in the morning, he makes sure the wife and I are awake too. I realize that my C-PAP mask probably looks a little odd, but I don't think it needs to be pounced at 5.00am...

You can use L Lysine for the herpes.
My Meeko non sphynx has herpes and it helps alot.
He is cute.
The feliway does not work with my sphynx Cleo at all.
I tried it because she acts bad at shows.
I am glad it works for you.
