Well....meet Vincent! Not sure how, but today we brought Vinnie home completely unexpectedly. We were just going for a viewing, but the breeder practically begged us to take him today, instead of next week (when we have a week off work), and well, we couldn't say no... The place was not big and housed a (massive!) Great Dane bitch, and apparently 7 cats including Vinnie - it felt like a bit of a madhouse tbh. He's 6,5 months, not neutered yet, very sturdy and chunky and veeeery talkative, but not sure just how well socialised he's been.

He's a bit overwhelmed at the moment, and honestly, so are we!!! Some lair support and reassurance would not go amiss at this point  The introduction with Butchie just sort of happened as Vinnie was allowed to explore, and all things considered, could not have gone better! Butchie is fascinated and enthralled with his new baby brother and will follow him around non-stop trying to play with him, which has lead to Vinnie getting overwhelmed and hissing at Butchie... we're keeping them separated just now and Vinnie is wrapped up in a blanket on my lap chilling. He had a bit to eat - breeder said he's a dustbin, so the opposite of his big brother in that respect. Wow, I'm in bits.... :0:ROFLMAO:o_O Please tell me it's all gonna be alright!

No, she owned both mum and dad, and we met dad, but she seemed to have her hands full keeping females and male apart, and kittens away from dad... She had Vinnie and his brother left for sale, but his brother was a far gentler soul and quite a bit slimmer, and we needed one that could stand up to Butchie, which Vinnie is certainly managing! Wow,.. this is all so new...and so sudden!

Congratulations! Glad to hear Butchie has accepted Vincent so quickly and that the boys should be good friends given time.
Yes, I think they'll be besties soon! Butchie is just sooo over-excited at the moment, we're having to give them time-outs so Vincent can chill a bit without Butchie pestering him!

It’ll be alright, for sure. We’re all overwhelmed no matter if they’re thrown at us or not :ROFLMAO: He’s beautiful and glad he gets on with your other kitty.

@Cinafina take a deep breath....it’s Gotcha Day! Congratulations with handsome Vincent.
Can imagine you’re a little overwhelmed. But everything will work out. Butchie and Vinnie will be buddies in no time I think, since Butchie is already into Vinnie.

Vincent is beautiful! And I love his bits of fur on his sides. You and he will be fine. He is a bit older, so his immune system should be able to handle the move, but you may see some diarrhea or sneezing and nasal discharge as he gets used to his new environment. Are you going to have the vet look at him in the next few days? That would be a good thing to get a baseline on him, so if you do see some illness, you can get it taken care of.

Mostly, just enjoy your new adventure. This happened to us when we got Cleopatra. We went to the pet shop to get cat food for our furry crew at home one day, and came back with a Sphynx kitten who was up for adoption that day. Your life has changed, and hopefully for the better.

Congratulations. Can tell you all are just excited and yet lots of energy in the house. Take a deep breath...schedule a wellness check and a neuter day and things will calm down fast and you will feel better. Don’t forget no Ketamine for the anesthesia. I look forward to seeing this guy become a regular in the community.

Yes,..I'm totally finished :ROFLMAO: But am definitely enjoying it! Butchie has just been on excitement overload, and had regular time outs in the bedroom so Vincent can get a breather. But after a while it seems Vincent misses him and they seem happy to see each other again once reunited! :0 They are absolutely hilarious together and I think VInnie is the perfect age and temperament to cope with Butchie's very persistent attention. Vinnie is an absolute sweetheart and I've had head buffings and purrings already {=

Thank you!! Yes, a vet check-up is due asap and will need a date soon for the snip. He is really quite mucky...have had to restrain ourselves from having a spa day  Managed to almost clean one (VERY oily) ear , and will attempt to clean the other one if he's chilled enough... But yes, am hoping with him being a bit older that his immune system is stronger, but will be monitoring for any common moving-to-new-home symptoms to appear! Wow, what a day... ; ):ROFLMAO:

His head looks very muscular. I’ll bet he ends up being a big, muscular cat when he’s done growing!

He really is a chunky, solid little guy and I also think he's gonna be a big boy!! Certainly nothing wrong with his appetite, that's for sure!

Well, got through our first night somehow! Butchie had to sleep in the livingroom instead of in our bedroom, or none of us would have had any sleep. Vinnie was restless, waking up every hour at least, so I'm a bit red-eyed today, and I have a job interview as well :0 Had to do prepping last night with mayhem all around, but hey, that's life!

Butchie seems to have calmed down a bit, which is a relief. It really makes it obvious that he never learned a lot of normal cat interaction behaviors, since he was brought up separately from the rest of the litter with being hand-reared. Don't think he had much contact with his mummy either... Like head buffing, that's something he's never done, or rubbing up against us either  It's very noticeable now when watching Vinnie!

@Toa and Ross Thank you! Yea, I managed it somehow o_O ; ) We have our first check-up at the vets tonight - managed to get a double appointment! Paranoid about Butchie's health with the potential for new bacteria from Vinnie, and would feel better having some medicine on stand-by just in case of a sudden flare-up...

I know right... We're kind of still reeling from the suddenness of it all! But Vinnie is an absolute sweetheart, and has taken it all in his stride amazingly well! They are working things out between themselves and feeling each other out, but considering it's been about 24 hours it's just incredible how well they're getting along :giggle:
