Sookies ways had these bumpies too. I feed her royal canin gastro high energy food. They don't seem to bother her unless they're in an area that she grooms a lot and then they get bigger.

Well after a couple weeks of being a little better, Bennie's spots are back with a vengeance. She's on Medical Hypoallergenic HP, doesn't seem to be doing anything so it might not be a food allergy. Just wondering if anyone's dealt with anything like these spots. Her spots range from tiny to huge weird shaped hive looking. I've scheduled an appointment with a pet dermatologist, but it's a while away and my vet doesn't have any answers.

So sorry to hear it is not clearing up. Perhaps it is your laundry detergent? I know some say fabric softener is a culprit as well. If your baby has special blankets they cuddle in maybe try a load with very gentle detergent like baby clothes detergent like Dreft and see if that helps. If your baby sleeps with you, you might just try Dreft as your detergent period.

If you ever find out, let me know. Sookies always had similar bumps never that many in one spot, but they look the same.

I was thinking maybe a staph infection? If so, needs antibiotics. My male gets hives and bumps from contact allergies, and vet suggested Benadryl. Have you tried that?

Ooh poor Bennie.. For what it is worth, I got bumps like this.. I stopped using Downy fabric softener and it cleared up..

Have you changed detergent or softeners, dryer sheets? Carpet sprinkle powder? Plants.different kitty treats? Different shampoo? My friends dog was allergic to palm tree pollen.. In Florida no less..
Can they do allergy testing on kitties like my friend did with her lab?
Please keep is posted.. Healing {hugs } to Bennie

My vet originally suggested it, it didn't seem to do anything.

I haven't changed detergent since I got her. Been thinking pretty hard about what she could be coming into contact with that's different. I've moved all house plants so she can't get at them, I don't give her treats, I use her food hypo food as treats. I just changed her shampoo to something my vet gave me, hasn't worsened or bettered the spots yet. I believe they can strip test her for allergies? I'll have to wait till I see the specialist!

Right now the plan is to keep with the medicated shampoo and hypoallergenic food, maybe try changing detergent, until I can see the specialist. April 30th unfortunately. Other than the spots she seems to be happy and healthy. Regardless my vet and I are keeping a close eye on her. Thanks for the support!

Hate to piggy back on the this thread....but hate even more to start another.
My Elora has some what of a similar issue. Except she licks her spots till they bleed! The vet thinks it might be 'urticaria pigmentosa' and we have a biopsy scheduled at the end of this month. But, I'm going through the motions right now with 'going through' with it. I know it's probably the best way to find out whats going on but.....I feeling horribly guilty to have it done. The spots where on her belly but those are gone now and now on her tail. And the worst it have been. She's happy as pie though! Except for when he perform first aid on her. lol
We have: Done a round of steroids (small improvement)
Changed foods to a ingredient sensitive brands
She doesn't wear any clothing right now and we do not use fabric sheets or softeners
Gets bathed once a week with a skin sensitive oatmeal shampoo ( better then mine!!)
Any suggestions or words of encouragement would be great.
...again I know there are a lot topics about skin issues sorry to add to the pile!
:)

@EloraDananMum Welcome to The Lair. I am sorry your baby is having skin issues. By all means don't worry about jumping in an existing thread. The important part is you are "in" and up and running to see who else has experienced issues. Please feel free to search previous threads and seek out members for advice.

There are many new members and even more experienced owners in here. It is amazing the great tips we all get from eachother! Feel free to start a new thread introducing yourself and your baby...and we LOVE pics!

Enjoy.

So fuzzy has these little bumps I spoke with my breeder and she said they were just like zits. He only has about 5 of them and I pop them like a zip then they scab and heal up. They don't seem to bother Fuzzy so I haven't stressed out over them.

EloraDananMum Wow it looks so sore. Has your vet started anything else except the first round of steroids? The 30th is a long way off. There should be something they can do to give her so e relief.

For those super serious pics, I have zero experience or suggestions... But for the less severe bumps/hives, I do have experience with that with my kitten Zoa. I have figured out most of her allergies and sensitivities thus far and she rarely gets the bumps anymore. She has issues with:
-poultry
-fish
-laundry detergent
-dryer sheets
-plastic (such as in bowls/dishes)
-pet shampoo

She is on a grain free food, and soon to be on a red meat kibble diet with zero chicken/fish. We never use dryer sheets anymore and changed our detergent to an unscented free and clear detergent. The shampoo that works for her is called Earthbath and we bathe her every 2-3 weeks (more often than that will dry out her skin which seems to make her more prone to the bumps).

She used to get many of the bumps around her head, neck and shoulders. She still gets one occasionally. Fortunately their typical location is areas that she can't reach, so Animax ointment has been a huge help.

Update: Biospy was done yesterday and didn't seem to phase my little fire ball here. We dropped her off at 8am ( i nearly cried) and they called and said she was already awake by 10am and we can pick her up at 2pm. They took samples from 2 locations and we go back Tuesday to get her stitches removed and (fingers crosses) the results if they have received them. She's doing good, sleeping right now. Hope we can resolve this soon!! One step closer!! :cat:
