    I, like everyone else, am heartbroken for you and angry at Delta's negligence. There is no excuse for what happened to your sweet baby and I hope in the end they are held accountable.

    Thank you for sharing your story and I'm so sorry you had to go through this. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! :Cry:

      I fell in love with my cats before I met them also.
      I feel bad for the breeder also she must be very upset.

      Oh, you can bet the poor breeder is heartbroken too... I saw a few people on FB point their fingers at the breeder, but let's be honest. Breeders only know what they are told- just as much as the first person! If Delta represents their pet program as being safe to fly- then it seems safe to fly! I only fly Continental and there's a reason. There is a dedicated Pet desk- I would hope if there was an issue- it would be through the Pet program and not a luggage person!

      The fact is- they need someone who is sympathetic to what happened and someone who wants to make it right- as far as they can, which isn't much- mind you. But having a luggage claims adjustor contact you- that's bullcrap.

      This just burns me just as much as Neala dying needlessly due to being fed the wrong food due to ignorance!

      And let's admit it too- how hard would it be for kitten/puppy crates to be put up in the cabin? You pay as much to fly them as most people pay for a damn ticket! But nooo- that would be inconvenient for the crew, blah, blah, blah...

        I wish people would stop blaming the breeder also.
        Continental is the airline that lost Wrinkles and they did not give a f^^^ when we filed a complaint.
        I bet if it had been cold she would not be here either.

            Snickers was so beautiful. I have wept as I read this thread:Cry::Cry::Cry::Cry: I just keep thinking of her and how horrible her death was. It was so tragic and so very preventable, I am so angry at Delta for not disclosing exactly how climate control functions:Angry::Angry:

            Oh my god! I can't imagine how hard this must be for you and your family. I am so upset right now from reading your story that I can completely understand your range of emotions having had to live through this. My deepest condolances to you and your family. While I know that nothing can ever make up for Snickers' loss, I at least hope that you will reach some sort of resolution with Delta that will offer you a tiny bit of solace.

            I know PETA is extreme, but they are loud and good at getting attention. I called them about horrible pet store conditions and they were all over it, they were quick to respond and DID make a difference. I think ANY attention and bad publicity brought to Delta is worth it.

              Yes you should email it to everyone you can. Get the ASPCA and Humane Societies as well. Peta is a bit scary but they do a lot of good work as well and they are loud! I say everyone you can get to. I have not been able to get this off my mind tonight I am just so sad for you guys. At least she was not alone but in your arms.

              I stil cant believe this happened! Its so awful! Again I am so sorry for your loss. I keep thinking back when I got Bella. She came at this time of the year on a Delta flight. I was told the fight was going to arrive at 10:15am, however the airline called me at 9 saying she was already there and came in on a earlier flight. So there is no telling how long she was left in the cargo bay since I was not waiting. Thank the lord she was ok, however I do remember her being cold and her eyes were filled with black gunky dust! These airlines should have staff that JUST works on animal transports... I know there a TON that come and go.

                I was extremely heartbroken when reading this, I am cannot imagine the pain you and your family are having to deal with at this time nor can I imagine how your poor Snickers felt.

                It has always been a huge fear of mine to ship something, everything is so out of your control and all your faith and trust lies in people that you have never met. I would think that Delta would have some type of policy that if there is a live animal in cargo that is the FIRST thing that is removed as soon as that plane lands, what is the harm is doing that? Upsetting a few people because their clothes will arrive later? Or whatever other minor possesions they may have compared to a life.

                Ducky was shipped to me and I was extrememly lucky and grateful that her breeder was flying into DC for vacation allowing Ducky to ride under her seat for the flight.

                Again I am so sorry for your loss, and I hope that Snickers story can cause an impact in the way airlines treat people's family members.

                I'm so sorry for your very terrible loss... i've been reading about this all over the internet actually! it's on a few facebooks, so your message is getting out there and people are hearing about it!

                i hope you get answers. this is terrible and very unacceptable!

We all know that this death could have been prevented on the airlines part....It's just devestating...Good Luck in fighting this.                   Hi Guys, I am at work today (trying to keep my mind off of everything!) and I wanted to give you guys a quick update on Delta. I will read all of the posts & messages when I get home tonight!

                  The gentleman’s name was Billy Freeman & he told me he is conducting a full investigation into what went wrong. He said he needs to be sure “protocol†was followed & is in the middle of getting statements from all employees who were working at the time.

                  He asked the “value†of everything, I told him you can’t place a value on the life of any animal. Of course he wanted me to quantify it. I then told him that the only call I want to receive from him is the call that he tells me what went wrong & what systems & procedures are going to be put into place to make sure it never happens again. He couldn’t answer why they don’t have someone who looks after the well being of animals & I told him that people trust that their animals will be safe & the fact that they are not to me is a crime.

                  You need to go all the way to the top, keep asking for the next person they answer to, go online and research who the top Delta people are and get to them. They will always lead you to the lowest person that you will accept to take care of the problem, you need to get to the highest, sometimes it's the only way.

                  Oh no, honey- you want cash. It WON'T replace Snickers. BUT it's the only thing that will hurt a company or make them change their crappy procedures.

                  They need to pay you for shipping, the cost of your kitten, the cost of your travel to pick your baby up AND the ER vet bills. DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY without paying.

                  It hurts. There is nooo price to put on a life. Heck, read my blog when I was dealing with this over Neala's death- I found it so hard to say that they owed me money because money isn't Neala, ya know? And money isn't your baby either. BUT it's the only way to hurt a company enough to make them look into things hard enough to change.

                    There is no way I would be able to come out of an experience like you are going through. I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling.

                    This is so heartbreaking, and really hurts me to read. My warm thoughts go out to you and your family. Delta deserves to pay for their neglect...For taking the life of a sweet innocent kitten that did not deserve what happened to her.
