Hi everyone!

My kitten Chashu got spayed and microchipped this afternoon. The vet said she would be sleepy most of the day then back to normal tomorrow. This was NOT the case. She’s pretty back to her normal self once we got home. She is hyper and playful as normal but unfortunately that’s not good post surgery! We have an E collar on her but I’m afraid she’ll get out of it. She got out of it once because I don’t think the vet tightened it enough. I tried buying baby onesies for her this evening but they don’t fit right. I just bought a surgical suit for her online but that won’t come in until 2-3 days from now!! We’re currently keeping her in the guest bedroom which luckily for us only has a litter box and some bedding and water so she can’t jump up anywhere other than on top of her litter box which she does normally ahh!

Any tips on post recovery? I’m pretty much hand feeding her because her food gets stuck in her e-collar. Also after each litter box use she sniffs her litter and it gets all over her collar as well! We hate keeping her locked up in that room by herself and it’s not realistic for somebody to be in that room with her 24/7.

How can we ensure our hyperactive kitten is healing? Realistically how long do we need to restrict her in that room so she doesn’t jump (she still tries to) and run and play too much? The vet says 10 days until she’s healed but is that really true? Any tips help. I’ve attached some pictures. Send good vibes her way please :)

All 3 of my sphynx have been hyper after. Both Male and female. I took the collar off to feed it's fine so long as u are with the cat so are watching for licking of the wound. I'm not sure any of mine actually knew anything had been done ! X

How many days until you let your cats play and roam free? We tried to take it off and she went straight to licking lol. She loves grooming her belly normally so I’m sure it’s killing her to not get to do that. Thanks for the reassurance!

Hello !
I know it’s a total worry ! I cried all the time cleo was away !
She come home and was running round like you wouldn’t believe ! I was also worried but she was great and never even went near her tiny scar it was like key hole
Just keep your eye on her and if she gets too giddy give her cuddle time out lol

My girl was not sleepy either .. did not get sent home with a cone .. kept her in my bedroom for 3 days with extra blankets on a cat bed on the floor and monitored closely as best I could working full time . Then she went free roaming.
She licked her belly a few times and I would quietly slowly redirect .

Speedy recovery vibes and head smooches to Sweet Chashu
Be sure to register her microchip. If thirst odd it I still cal the company amd verify my contact info just in case any typos
Keep us updated ..

They roamed free straight away and only had collar on if we was out. At night they are in our bed so no collar needed

She’s doing better with the collar today. Yesterday night I guess she scratched her chin on the rough part of the cone :( I attached a picture. I tried to clean it up with some baby wipes but it won’t come off and I don’t want to irritate it more.

You can soak a little saline on a clean cloth, then hold it on the chin for 2-3 minutes. It should soften everything so it’s easily wiped away

My baby was spayed before I brought her home, but she recently broke her leg and had to be confined for quite a bit. It was a challenge to say the least!

We’ve been lucky to always have someone home with her - unfortunately if you can’t watch her the cone is best. Mine REALLY didn’t tolerate it well at all and I had to make some little skirts for her leg to keep her from licking. Not sure how you could go about making something like that for a spay incision.

Could you ask the vet about maybe covering the wound with Tegaderm? That would prevent her from having to wear the cone and also reinforce the area if she’s super hyper.
