Kitty with broken leg

Okay,,Im going to rant a little bit here.

I'm totally sickened to my stomach about this.

My boyfriends cousin has had these cats atleast 6 years or so. They were indoor cats, he got a new house and when he moved he made them stay outside. I gave him the "what for" when he did that too! Anyhow, so big orange kitty got hit by a car one night and he had to have his leg casted. All he could do was rant over how much it cost him to cast the cats leg! Kept offering us his "$800 cat!". I again, told him how selfish he was how much of a dumb he was for making them stay outside in the first place!
This all happened about 3 or 4 weeks ago now. Now tonight, I learn that he took the cat back to the vet, and the leg had turned gaingrene and they amputated it! So now he is complaining he had to pay another $200 for that!
I want to shake him!!!!!!!! Maybe if he would have paid attention to his cat and spent time with it instead of making him stay on the screen in porch where no one ever spends time then he would know something was wrong with his cat!
I just feel this was all senseless and could have been prevented.
All he does is throw food at them and scoops their box and he thinks thats all he has to do...these cats are so unsocialized its pathetic. They don't go up to anybody for anything!! I talked to them for a while one night and finally one of them came and sat with me but I think its simply crazy..

Thanks for listening to my rant!! I'm glad this guy hasn't reproduced! He'd probably want to make them sleep outside too and fuss when they have medical expenses!

I would be ticked off too. We all know this is unacceptable behavior. It is not your responsibility to watch his every move with his cat care ethics. Glad the leg was amputated before the gangrene set into his system and shut it down - cats are fragile. Maybe try to get him to rehome all his cats (I know... it would be like moving mount Olympus). I am sorry sweety that you had to endure his lack of empathy.

Wow! Its obvious he cares for his animals because working on the vet tech side of it at one point in my life I can't tell you how many"Just put it down people" we would have come in. He at least casted the leg then amputated etc. Seems to me he is just lazy and not good at follow through. Sorry to say that about someone I dont know but...if the shoe fits.....Tell him to find homes for the cats for petes sake!!

Oh Christin'get bored' of their pets..this is just so sad. As much as we all hate to see people who "get bored" with their pets, I would much rather see them rehomed than have to live like that. Go give him a little swat upside the head from me!

Poor kitty. And poor kitties. Bad enough to lose a leg but they all must have been terrified at finding themselves suddenly tossed outside. I suppose that's better than one of my brothers though, he hates cats and shoots every one that strays onto his property. Just want to beotch-slap him sometimes.

Sounds to me like this man is ignorant, just plain ignorant. Sounds like he doesn't understand what truly involves caring, and loving a cat. I'm always devestated for the millions of cats who aren't loved to their fullest potential, or even have a home.....But, I do have to give the man props for paying for the cat's surgery. I volunteer at the shelter, and I can't even tell you how many people would rather just ditch the cat, then pay....It's such a shame

I would defintley take these cats in a heart beat but my boyfriend won't let me. He is severly allergic to hairy cats and we just dont have the space to put them where Jimmy wouldn't need to be in a bubble! Thats the whole reason we have two hairless cats,,its the only cats his body can tolerate.

Unfortunatley in Ohio, that is exactly how they will see it. Food, shelter and medical treatment is all that is required. Its sad.

I guess just what got me is my boyfriend is sticking up for this low life (they are cousins and best friends and yea he is a nice guy BUT STILL). The cat had surgery to reset the leg and then it was casted,,well for whatever reason (I'm short on details) but the hind leg fell to the underside of the body so everytime the cat went pee he was peeing on his leg which soaked the cast and got into his incision. I'm being told this low life asked the vet why the leg was turned that way and the vet said "Oh, its fine" so he trusted him.
I know someone who worked for this vet and she doesn't believe it so neither do I. Its a sad situation regardless. I called him and offered to help him rehome the cats if they were too much of a burden, I was trying to be non chalant about it since he is practically family and just got my boyfriend a really good job...but the zit is turning into a boil so to speak,,I'm sure I'll have him seeing my way in no time!!
