She's depressed. Sleeps a lot. Some days are better than others.
I'm flat out atm. I've just cut and disposed of a good 30 meters of hedge. Took it down from a height of about 2 meters, to just over 50cm.
And just as I get back from dumping the (almost) last of the greenery at the dump... one of the farmers knocks on the door to tell me "your tree is lying in my field". Yep, a big oak dropped in the storm as well, and half of it is lying in his field. He was going to move his cows into the field, but can't due to the tree. So that needs to be cut in the next week. And it's huge. I'm dreading it.
Plus, I have to cut the apple tree that fell in the storm. I did a whole lot already, but the trunk isn't cut yet.
Add to that guests just booked the gite for the weekend, and it's a mess.
Now, do all that... in 1 hour intervals, because... meds.

The finished (almost) hedge. It's ornamental laurel. I hate it.
I need to ram posts on the top field as well as two are collapsing. And another at the veg plot, where Wreck-It Ralph went though. And fix the electric fence that's keeping the horses out of the laurel and the veg plot.
Sometimes I hate my life.

Okay. Pixie had her stitches out today.
The good news is that there was a little success with the cornea. Different drops now for 3 weeks. He thinks it may clear (as in the cloudyness) but doesn't think her eyesight will be restored. The lab results for the test on the lump he removed are still not in, so he is chasing that up. She had anesthetic to remove the stitches, so she was pretty wobbly and out of it when we got home.
Now for the bad news.
The horrible bandage rubbed her armpits raw. It's an open sore. And it's pretty horrendous. Because it was underneath the vetwrap there was no way to tell how bad it was.
So now antibiotics for 10 days, betadine every day, antiseptic spray every day and the collar for another 2-3 weeks.
I feel absolutely dreadful about this. The vet was like "Why didn't you tell me" and I'm like "I would have if I could have actually SEEN it. I *smelled* it this morning and just knew it's bad, but we had the appointment for today anyway. If we hadn't I'd have called immediately."
Poor, poor Pixie. :(
But... Jezzy. Jezzy is cuddling up with Pixie, as in skin to skin, right next to her. Pixie has never allowed that before, so she must be pretty out of it. Jezzy has always tried to get as close as possible, but to find both of them under one fleece was a bit of a surprise! (Jezzy had already moved a bit when I took this. They were proper snuggled up.)

@Silke , awh, melt my heart. heartwarming Jezzy is taking good care and comforting Pixie on her healing journey.
stay strong Team Pixie! following closely for updates.
(thinking of you as today I am going outside to remove my neighors wood pile and board debris that apparently none of the visiting relatives she had for past 2 months took the initiative. I told her I can do it and she said oh thank you.I would have thought the lawn guy would have been asked to do it since she pays him to do various chores. time to glove up and get it done).

Sharing some dinner.
I take the collar off so she can eat without struggling. Mad chase to put it back on again after.
One side of her armpit is healing, other side is still open and raw. God I hate this. :(
I can't wait until those bits are healed and I don't have to bother her with Betadine and wound spray anymore, and get that collar off.
BUT... I am very, very glad I bought it years ago (for Jezzy) as it is at least soft and not plastic.
I can only recommend people get one just to have it handy if they should ever need it.

As for the tree... rain (and an empty battery on the small chainsaw) stopped play.
I'm dumping all the branches against the barbed wire to make a "dead hedge". It'll help keep the ponies in without further need for fencing in those areas. (I'm always worried about the barbed wire.)

Back from the checkup visit.
First - the tumor on her shoulder is not cancerous. That's a huge relief. But it may come back. :/
The eye is healing slowly, she's still on daily drops (Tobrabact) for the next 3 weeks. She will not get her full sight back, but she'll have a little bit.
The sores... The left side is healing nicely, the scar on her shoulder as well, the right side... well. It's better, but still open.
Betadine, Vetamil (a honey-based wound spray) at least 3x daily, also some vaseline so it doesn't stick to stuff. (My whole house smells of Betadine...)
And antibiotics for the next 5 days at least.
I'm looking into various Manuka honey based wound ointments atm, instead of the vaseline, but I have to make sure it's okay to use on cats.

This is the explanation... there is a patch in her eye, and it is healing from the outside in. But it's still a long way to go.
Poor Pixie, still another 2-3 weeks in the "Cone of Shame", or her "Petals" as I like to call it.
She's not happy.

@Silke , you got this warrior Team Pixie! I know she has the bestest mum and care. great news tumor not cancerous!
also that her eye s healing, baby steps, one day at a time .. I used to do the meds, eye drop routine with my boy. I kissed him on the head every day telling him I know he is not happy right now but all of this is to make you better. I told him he is a warrior and we got this . continued healing hugs n head smooches. thank you for sharing the patch explanation very helpful for all of us. glad you have the soft "petals" to help on the recovery journey. Petals of love.
I have always known manuka honey's healing properties many use in the dog group. I am interested in what manuka honey you find for Pixie.
you got this!
