Hello,
I’m hoping someone here might be able to give some insight as to what could have possibly happened. I was supposed to be picking up my new kitten from the breeder in a few more weeks, I have 2 from her from past litters. Suddenly in 3 days time they all passed I will explain what happened and what was done.

Healthy kittens 11 weeks old suddenly became lethargic, didn’t want to eat, started dropping weight to the point of looking starved within a day, clay colored stool some with alittle blood, slight respiratory symptoms, cold to the touch.

Stool sample was negative for parasites, giardia, and coccidia.
They and the mama were vaccinated
The vet is stumped, bloodwork showed nothing abnormal.
The kittens left in the vets on iv fluids still didn’t make it.
The breeder had this happen the last 2 litters with different females. (Not blaming the breeder she is doing everything she can and is devastated)

Anyone have any experience with something like this? Any idea at all what could cause something like this?
Thanks so much in advance

So sorry to hear of the loss of your kittens and the breeders kittens. And that all so sudden in just a day. Did they check if if was FIP? Or HCM? I'm no breeder and no vet so only naming the two things we hear the most

Kittens that don’t survive beyond 12 weeks are often diagnosed with fading kitten syndrome. These kittens can slowly deteriorate, stop nursing, and get weak and thin. The exact cause of the fading kitten is usually not really known.
