Our girl has been struggling with some rash issues lately and after trying several different things (new litter, new shampoo, etc.) we have decided it is time to get the vet's opinion and maybe do some allergy testing.

The only issues is, we would rather not take her to a vet that is unfamiliar with the Sphynx breed, as our last one was and wasn't as particularly helpful as she could have been.

Does anyone have any recs for the Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Arlington) area? We are willing to travel closer to DC or Maryland if it is for a vet that knows sphynxes and has a great reputation.

Thank you for any help!!

Sorry to hear your girl is having rash issues. Hope members from your area will chime in and reccomend a good vet.
If there are no vets who are familair wiyh sphynx it would be a good odea to call some vets and tell you have a sphynx and see if the vet is willing to learn about sphynxies.

Do you have a picture of the rash so we can chime in with suggestions to discuss with a vet

I live in a small town and my vet though not sphynx specific will call and consult with colleagues
My vet also told me allergy testing can give false positives so definitely something to ask the vet you consult
Also when changing foods it can be a strict 6-8 weeks to see results for a food trial

Many have used natural balance pea and duck formula for skin issues
mine do well with Nutrisource cat and kitten formula in the blue bag

Is there a university hospital nearby to call amd see if they have recommendations?

Keep us updated often

Did y'all find a vet in the area? We're also in the NOVA area and are hoping to adopt soon so we would like to have a vet lined up :cat:
