hello all, i've been very interested in a sphynx kitten of my own and been researching the breed generally for a few months now. i've been made aware of the sheer amount of horrific scams running near and out of nyc and as such i'm very cautious, and figured i'd come here to ask for some guidance. if anyone has some experiences they can share to help an aspiring sphynx mom it would be wonderful and greatly appreciated, and pms with specific recommendations for the area or names to avoid would be even better.

I have all adoptees. check out the fraud tips link. was helpful when I was looking at ads outside sphynxlair. there is also a reputable breeder thread which has great info ., sharing I adopted a wonderful retiree from a reputable breeder. all paws crossed the sphynx stars align. hugs from a born and raised long islander , miss it there!

glad you are doing your research, here is a great link that helped me when I was looking at ads outside sphynxlair. do not hesitate to pm any ads you are looking at for an extra peek for red flags.

Ways to help detect fraud & scammers when adopting/buying a cat

NEVER send money via Western Union. If possible - get a cat or kitten that is in driving distance of your home. Most breeders selling kittens or people re-homing or adopting out will communicate no problem via phone, emails or in person. If not - look somewhere else. Visit the breeder’s home if...
