Hey everyone. Thank you for keeping my Raisin in your thoughts. I spoke to my vet and he mentioned to not be too worried in the meantime. He said that although the test may be coming out positive, it just means her antibodies are currently fighting the corona virus. In the meantime, we did the PCR test which will get tested by the lab on Monday so I won’t hear the results until Tuesday. The anticipation is killing me. Meanwhile, I’m just spending the days per usual with Raisin. Will give further updates when I get the results.

Thanks for the update. That is definitely potential good news. From what I’ve read, only 5-10% of the time will the virus mutate and become FIP.

Thank you for reading up on the case! That means so much that everyone is contributing to helping me alleviate my anxiety over this. Thats such a relief to know the percentage!! Im hoping the lab will fax us the results by late tonight since i’ll still be at work til 12am. Will post results once I know

Checked the fax prior to leaving work and I didnt see anything. I will be returning tomorrow at 11am so I will check to see if theres any results. I will also attach her TBF and viral panel results that was done on Fri (01/04/19).

Also mentioned to the breeder about Raisins condition and I can’t comprehend if I should be upset or how to react. So I understand that its possible for FIP to have been contracted during transportation BUT i would assume the cattery mustve carried the corona virus prior. I wasn’t expecting her to pay the Vet bill or give me money. Just consulting her of the case&to see if any of the litter had any issues. So she referred me to her daughter who is an animal specialist but she’s trying to charge me for her consultation. Being that I paid $2.5k for her, I’m upset that she wants to charge me for her to recommend conventional medications and nutritional counseling to help treat her FIP. Do you guys think that’s fair or am I just not comprehending it correctly?

This is her current condition. Alert, purring and cuddly per usual. Happy kitty.

Umm...nuh nuh nuh nuh no.

I would not pay for that! First of all, it is her responsibility to provide support after you have given a home to one of her kittens. Secondly, it is very likely she bears some of the blame for the kitten contracting the virus, in one way or another.

Sorry if that response is laced with attitude. It isn’t directed at you. That kind of money-seeking, underhanded behaviors just really pisses me off.

@RaisinBambino, I personally would NOT get involved with the "consultation " .
I had a health issue with my first Sphynx -
as much as I tried with the breeder , I had to just move on - even with a contract it's a civil issue - we count on the The integrity of breeders when these sweeties enter our hearts and homes.

I go with my gut, concentrate all my energy better into my kitty with my vet .
My vet will consult with colleagues for treatment plan too .

@Toa and Ross can and others can chime in with knowledge of corona virus .
From my understanding they can test positve amd less full lives.
It's such a confusing scary subject . We come together here with lots of support for each other.
You are not alone . We share the journey through the Sphynx smiles and the challenges .


I am so so sorry you are going through the stress. Raisin has the best of love and care .
I had to take a deep breath when the specialist mentioned my boys eye issue could be related to corona virus . He healed fine and his housemate sphnyx are fine.

I would ask the vet about the retest amd what it actually means about " not differentiating"

All paws crossed the positive test result was for "exposure " and not conclusive for actual FIP
and see improvemenet on follow up retest

@RaisinBambino as @Yoda mom said my both boys have the coronavirus. My boy Toas was sick the first months I had him and the vet suspected FIP. Luckly it wasn't FIP. 80% of the cats have the coronavirus. Only 5-10 % of that 80% gets FIP.
Positive result on the coronavirus and swollen lumps doesn't mean it has to be FIP. If I understand correcr Raisis doing well , eating, drinking, pooping, playing?

All fingers and paws crossed it's only the coronavirus!!

@Sheldon13 Okay, I thought I was being unreasonable about the breeder. I can't believe the email when she had responded. All I wanted was the support and love/care for Raisin. Wasn't expecting much of it but to charge me just to consult with me is ridiculous.

@Yoda mom I'm just going to forget about the breeder and seek my own help&knowledge through the forum and my hospital. I'm glad to know that your babies are still living happy&healthy lives. I'm trying to familiarize myself with the corona virus as cat disease can be very controversial. Scottie (boyfriend's cat) is doing well. He hasn't shown any signs of weight loss, eye issues, enlarged lymph nodes or lethargic. He seems to be doing well and I'm not too concern over him. I do plan on getting him viral tested as well just to be safe. I'm also going to consider retesting her again as well hoping this is just a minor infection or something that is causing her to have a positive FIP reading. Raisin's lymph nodes are still big. I THINK they're getting smaller in size but still big enough to feel it's there. No change in her activity or so. Still doing very well.

@Toa and Ross I'm glad to hear your baby didn't have FIP. I've been reading so many stories of how fatal and quick people lost their baby to the disease. I'm glad that only a small percentage mutates to FIP because I'm hoping her lymph nodes return back to normal. &&yes, she's still active, eating well, defecating normal so I'm not too worried at this point. Do you know what I should expect if Raisin does have corona virus?

I appreciate having a lair full of love and support. You guys honestly have been angels through this process with me and it means so much. I shared with my boyfriend on this post and he said this is such an awesome community to be a part in as everyone is so welcoming and contributing to our girl. I also hope this post will help future sphynx moms who is going through this.

Yeah, at this point now, I’ve accepted that she’s doing well. I was initially concerned because I didn’t know the statistics of FIP but after talking to the doctor and getting insight from the lair, I believe she’s going to be okay. I’m glad your boys are doing well which gives me relief for her. I’m anticipating on the results. So far, it’s still pending. It says something about not having enough viral to test for FIP? So i’m assuming thats good news but I’m still waiting for the finalized results

My sisters 2 girls both have coronavirus and her oldest will be 7 this year and is great health otherwise!
The most symptoms she shows is some sneezing, usually in the winter months, and doesn't even produce a ton of mucus when that happens!!

That’s amazing! Wow, 7 is a good life and I’m hoping to hear they exceed further. I’m glad theres not much serious or chronic symptoms that I will affect her health. I can deal with some sneezing.

Update: the breeder’s mom texted me asking how Raisin is doing. Told her that I found it outrageous that her daughter wanted to charge me for a consultation and she is really understanding of paying her daughter herself. She has a lot of confidence in her daughter’s homeopathic treatments and believe it can really help Raisin. I’m glad someone within the cattery cares and is willing to withhold their contract to love&support her. I’m definitely feeling a lot of hope and good improvements with multiple resources on hand

Hey guys, I just received the labs for the FIP PCR test. I’m assuming its semi good news. Dr had advise me that this is not something to relax about. It’s just a matter of us fighting a bad coronavirus rather than a FIP mutation. So I’m a little confused as to what to expect. I also brought in my boyfriend’s cat today to get him viral tested to be safe.

I agree looks like things are looking up.I say get busy enjoying life and cherishing every day. A week a month a year or 20 years is never long enough, but being happy and seeing he best in all is more rewarding and better on your heart/head...go make memories. Be positive and just keep loving.

Yes!! It said negative! I’m happy to be dealing with FCoV than FIP. It’s a relief but I don’t want to relax too much. Dr said to bring her in weekly to keep her checked in the meantime. Thank you to all of you who’ve been keeping her in your prayers!!
