so we are kinda in the middle of moving, from our apartment to a cozy little house in the city. and we found what we thought to be the perfect one! so we put the deposit and first months rent down on it yesterday and got straight to painting. we came back this morning to do another coat and found the place in a state! it was broken into last night and wrecked by some scumbags. COMPLETELY destroyed the place, inside & out. used all of our coal (it was a LOT, its a cold winter!). left the shower running & soaked the top two floors. pulled out hanging light bulbs as leverage to get into the attic. tore apart the back fence to use for firewood. spilled beer all over the living room. and stomped all over everything! oh, & stole my phone (i forgot it when we left after painting). needless to say, were not moving in anymore.
its ok though. its probably a blessing in disguise. in alot of ways! i spent the last week gaining inspiration from home magazines, picking out complimentary colors and deciding on textiles and everything! i was just excited and had ideas of what i was going to make my home...just feel kinda violated you know?

I'm so sorry! That's terrible... but, a blessing that it happened before you moved in! I hope you'll get your deposit back.

What A*holes.....no respect for other people's property. Karma will give them what they've got coming eventually. At least you weren't at the home when they broke in!!

I am so sorry that happen. I do understand the feeling. About 13 years ago I lived in a condo with underground parking. Some kids got in and broke into 9 of the cars with one being mine. I knew something was wrong when I went into the parking garage and found the dome light on in my car. I am nuts about locking my doors. I knew something had happen and did not touch anything. After all was said and done I traded the car in for another after it was fixed at the body shop. I felt violated and didn't want the car anymore. Had to get rid of it. It's a horrible feeling.

Better days ahead!!!

Well, that is terrible. I am just thankful that you weren't physically harmed. If it was in that kind of a place where people can just break into a home and do that much damage with no one calling the police, then I'm glad you won't be living there. I am sorry about all your hopes, plans and dreams for this little house having been destroyed and I know how demoralizing that can be. Just remember there are other cozy houses, other cell phones, but only one you.

So sorry to hear what happened to your prospective new home. Even though this was an awful thing that just happened, hopefully this'll clear the way for a much better - and SAFER- house to come your way soon!
