Hey all. I apologize for reviving an old topic, however the other thread has not been used in over a year. Ever since I moved into my new house, my Sphynx has had fleas. Here are my questions:

    1. Is Advantage the safest option to get rid of fleas on my Sphynx? I read that Sphynx's don't respond well to flea medication.

    2. Is a dehumidifier the safest (non-chemical) method to getting rid of these pests?

    3. Of course I will vacuum religiously and wash all my stuff.

    4. Are flea bombs safe for Sphynxs? What is the best brand?

Thank you very much for answering my questions!

We just moved to the Midwest, and I asked our vet about fleas. We were in the desert-no fleas, but we have also lived on the west coast, where everyone had fleas. So our vet told us that Sphynxes usually tolerate Frontline very well. You might run it by your vet, since every cat is different. I do know that you have to treat the animals, house and yard to stop them. Vacuum your home thoroughly and get rid of the bag outside, so eggs won't hatch in the vacuum. The cats can be bathed in flea shampoo, or treated, and I would have a professional treat the outside. You could put diatomaceous earth-used in aquariums, outside under doors, on windowsills and around the building if possible.
Good luck. Those pests are miserable.

I wound up using Advantage and it worked great. I'm glad she didn't have a nasty reaction to it as some people reported in the past.
