Hey everyone,
My male sphynx Simone has a blockage in his small intestine, I THINK he ingested a small piece of foam - he’s going in for emergency surgery tomorrow in the morning and he’s staying overnight at the clinic tonight to be monitored.

I somehow KNEW he had a blockage. Just incase anyone wants to know what to look out for in the future - it’s been day 3:
- He was lethargic but still trying to get up and follow me as he usually does
- everything he ate, he eventually threw up
- he was eager to eat on day one and day two but on day three, he even refused to lick the treat off of his nose
- he was extra hot
- he didn’t want to sit in my lap, he’s my heart kitty, he always wants to be near me

Pray for my little man! They said it’s pretty routine and he’s stable right now, everyone in the house misses him. We’re all pretty sad and the surgery is costing a fortune but he’s only 4.5 so he’s got his whole life ahead of him.

I forgot about the no ketamine anesthesia.
Thanks for reminding me, I’ll ask them tonight I’m going to visit him and bring him a blanket

UPDATE - just went to visit him with my husband and he looks like a totally different cat - he even ate a full meal and had some diarrhea.

They’re going to give him another ultrasound before surgery to see if he’s even going to need it since he’s having partial bowel movements now.

Here’s a photo of him wearing his cone of bravery!

@VolkoSimone , such a brave handsome Simone, it's a good sign passing stool so hopeful whatever he ate is passing and clearing his system without surgery. please keep us updated, hopeful for more good news updates!

They called with an update from the second ultrasound and they said the blockage is indeed moving so they’re putting off the surgery unless absolutely necessary! It’s currently in the ileum so we’re almost out of the danger zone….

Im so genuinely happy and grateful!
Going to visit him tonight and if all goes well I can bring him home tomorrow afternoon :)

Another update - they did an xray today and they didn’t see any object they’re waiting for the ultrasound person tomorrow morning and they’ll do an ultrasound on Simone first thing.

If it’s in the colon he’s clear to come home unless he poops the object out first.

Our little man has a fan club and everyone is feeding and cuddling with him. I’m super happy and would recommend this emergency clinic to anyone in Toronto - the pricing is actually on par or cheaper than a regular vet clinic and it’s 24hrs - it’s called Petnation

Well, they checked him again and the object is on the move so they said he’s ok to come home for monitoring. He’s eating and drinking normally and very active and vocal. We brought him home and have him seperate from our other cats for now so we can monitor his poop.

Thank you to everyone who chimed in along the way. We’re so grateful for your energy

So far no hissing. Gave everyone a bath when he got home. He’s so skinny but he’s eagerly eating and aching to spend time with everyone. Supervised time with the kiddos and separated when we can’t watch him.

Missed him so much - he’s so sassy. I swear I’m going to frame this piece of foam when it comes out of him.

@VolkoSimone ,awh glad he is home, no hissing and he is eating and being sassy . oh, yes I know the feeling of "going to frame it". went thru this rollercoaster with my aussie years ago who ate an big no stuffing snake toy with squeekers. I actually went online to see home many squeekers it came with to make sure I didnt miss one when he left those on the floor. all the material passed thru miraculously.

hugs and continued positive vibes! I definitely know Poo Patrol.
look forward to good news updates!
