My baby Kairos has a rash of some sort he’s not itching but it seems to be irritating him. I’m not sure what it is I think it’s heat rash. How would I be able to soothe his heat rash from home as I am unable to take him to the vets right now.

@Gee27 welcoming you and Kairos to the lair family.

, awh,,,has Kairos been sleeping in blankets alot? wear clothing?

years ago when one of mine had heat rash, I did not apply any products as to not risk making skin worse or clogging pores.
can you email pics to your vet?
any change of laundry detergent? use fabric softeners? change of food or treats? some can be sensitive to chicken,
any change of litter brand? scented litter? walnut litter? some can be sensitive too to worlds best litter and scented litters.
sharing a link

members will surely chime in. all paws are family. following closely for updates.

Nothings new at all all washing detergents the same, food and litter is the same he hasn’t worn clothes in a good month or over now. He loves being in the garden in the sun and laying by the windows when it’s sunny so I’m abit worried that’s the cause. I’ve put a cold damp cloth on his body to help but today seems like it’s worse that’s why I’ve put the cloth on him he seems to be in abit of pain :(

Cats mask pain well, so with you saying they seem to be in pain, they are in more pain than you think. I would get to a vet ASAP to get them relief. I don’t know the reason why you can’t go, but if it is because you can’t get an appt. I’d try another vet etc.

I’m agoraphobic and have no one able to take me to the vets for a few days unfortunately

@Gee27 , *** can you email pics to your vet and for a telephone consult? ask your vet over the phone what you can give him.
is he eating and drinking the same?
Did rash develop soon after being out in the garden sunning? and rash on face or ears?
any chance he chewed or seen any plants chewed in the garden?
can you take his temperature?
if he is scratching? I would suggest ordering a little soft e collar.( many use the one that looks like a flower.)

please describe how he seems in pain? is he yowling and or itching?

hugs n positive vibe head smooches to sweet Kairos. following closely for updates

His head is read and a little swollen not majorly, I’ve kept a cold compress on him for awhile and it seemed to soothe him but when I took it off and gently stroked his back he yowled and hissed at me as I think he was in pain, he is all red and sulking in his bed, he’s not itching but just seems really fed up still loving and cuddly at times. I will send over some pictures to my vet and explain the situation hopefully I have something in house that can help him he just doesn’t stay away from the windows constantly sunbathing I do try so hard to keep him out of them but I can’t always catch him or see him unfortunately. I haven’t noticed him eat anything in the garden he usually plays with my other cats instead. Hopefully the vets can get back in touch with me thank you!

@Gee27 , I am not a vet and cannot diagnosis. . if you do talk with your vet, ask if it could be a sun allergy? just wanted to share, I get small itchy rash, bumps on my arms after being outside in the sun and have to take an antihistamine. Never give any meds unless directed by a vet **
I would keep him inside, perhaps away from your other cats since he is in discomfort.

some members have window tint put on windows. I moved cat tree to an indirect light location and use positive reinforcement putting a few treats on the cat tree ..

** sharing, Do not use ANY sunscreen on him. suncreens often have toxic chemicals and other ingredients that are not good if ingested from licking.

I am glad you are reaching out to your vet, be sure to send photos of his face/head too and let them know it' red and a little swollen .
agree with the yowl and hissing sign of pain/discomfort. I hope you can get him in for a vet check soon to get a diagnosis.
please please keep us updated on sweet Kairos.

Yeah don’t worry I won’t give him anything at all unless advised I’m too paranoid about that stuff haha. I’m gonna put a hat and light breathable jumper on him so if he does go into the windows to sunbathe he’s got that little bit of protection. I’ve just messaged my vets now so hopefully they respond soon and give me some pointers and advice. I’m going to keep ontop of giving him a cold compress every few hours for 15 minutes (he’s gonna hate me haha) but he’s away from the other cats he has his own personal bed no one goes near him when he’s in there and he’s in there most of the time gonna keep a very close eye on him and keep his body wet to prevent peeling and dry cracking skin. I feel absolutely awful it never occurred to me I’d have to buy him cat suncream but that’s on my to do list as soon as I can bless him.

@Gee27 *** Please NO SUNSCREEN - ingredients toxic and other ingredients can be dangerous if ingested licked and or clog pores. instead, some use light shirts and or hats.

* If it turns out to be sun allergy , sun sensitivity, his outings surely should be limited or eliminated and perhaps window tint put on windows.
double check with vet about the cold compresses .

we are here for you team Kairos.
