Hi all- I just signed up looking for some input on my Reggie- he is a 5 yr old Sphynx with Cardiomyopethy that is being controlled with medication and routine ultrasounds. Just recently he started to develop bumps- like a raised rash on his body that he has been picking at (now open sores) and has been vomiting frequently. He is not usually a vomiter. I took him to the vet and he stayed 2 nights to rehydrate him and they put him on antibiotics for 10 days to clear the bumbs and he seemed to recover well- but they could not tell me the route of the problem. a few days ago he started to vomit again on and off- not as much as before and i noticed some of the bumps have started to reappear- any ideas? i know my vet does not have a lot of experience with this breed- but i was wondering if any of you had similar stories? also he is eating Purina 1 sensative systems and there has been no change in diet- any other food suggestions? any advice would be greatly appreciated! just want my little guy feeling better :)

Hi and welcome!
Do you have a picture of the bumps? that could help. But it sounds like it is some kind of infection?

Hello and welcome to Sphynx Lair.

I can't offer any real advice other than to say if the bumps and vomitting stopped while he was on antibiotics but the symptoms reappeared when he went off, then he may need to be put on a longer round of antibiotics to clear this up.

I hope you will get better advice from someone here and that Reggie will feel better soon. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Welcome to the site.
I agree get some pics of the bumps.
Sounds like he is allergic to something though.
I have had that happen before.

Welcome to the Lair! Reggie is very pretty by the way.

I have no advice to offer but it looks like you've received great advice so far. I wish you luck and hope Reggie starts feeling better soon!

What kind of antibiotics was he on and for how long? If it wasn't doxycycline, most sphynx respond very well to that. You might try a round of that--but it also might be an allergic reaction to something. If you don't think your vet has a handle on it, you should probably ask the cardiologist who is treating his HCM.
Welcome to the Lair and I sure hope Reggie feels better soon.

Hi avieira79 and welcome to Sphynxlair! sorry to hear of your situation with your kitty. Yes, pictures may help, how long has he been on meds? what are the meds he is currently on? are you sure nothing has changed in his life? food, treats, medications, detergent for blankets and clothes? new plants in the home? has he been spending time in the window in the hot sun? Please also do a search on the site for " bumps" there are a lot of useful threads on this subject. search bar is at the top of every page.
