Hi everyone. I’m a little worried about my sphynx baby. Her name is Moon. She just turned 6 months old the other day. I feed her canned and dry food. She loves both. This morning though, she randomly stopped showing interest in her dry food, but will still eat her canned food. I haven’t changed anything. She’s been on the same food for months so I’m not sure why. Shortly after that, she has been sneezing here and there and coughing a little bit today, and threw up mucus this morning. I am worried sick. She seems okay overall, but a little more lethargic than usual. Still wants to play, but not as active as she usually is. The only thing I did differently was clean her water dish and clean her litter box out completely, but I use the same litter. I’m not sure what is happening. Any advice would be great, thank you. I love my little Moon girl so much

The sneezing and coughing/mucus are enough for me to think a possible URI might be brewing. If they have one they might not smell the dry food so no longer enticed by it. I’d get a vet check assuming a simple prescription of an antibiotic will do the trick. Keep us updated.

I'm sorry to hear that your sphynx, Moon, is experiencing some health issues. There could be several reasons why she is suddenly showing disinterest in her dry food and experiencing sneezing, coughing, and vomiting mucus. Some potential causes could include:

  1. An underlying medical condition: It's possible that Moon has an underlying health issue that is causing her to feel unwell and not want to eat her dry food. Some potential health problems that could cause these symptoms include upper respiratory infections, allergies, dental problems, or gastrointestinal issues.
  2. Stress or anxiety: Changes to her environment or routine, such as cleaning her litter box or water dish, can cause stress or anxiety in some cats. This could lead to a decrease in appetite and other physical symptoms.
  3. Food quality: It's possible that the quality of Moon's dry food has changed or that she has developed a dislike for the taste or texture of it.
If Moon's symptoms persist or worsen, I recommend that you take her to a veterinarian for a check-up. In the meantime, you can try offering Moon some different types of food to see if she is more interested in something else, and make sure she is staying hydrated. If she continues to exhibit signs of lethargy or other concerning symptoms, don't hesitate to seek veterinary care.

Hmm…doesn’t seem like kitty just got bored with kibbles. Mine does every 3-4 wks but yeah if there are symptoms like above it’s better to check in with vet for peace of mind

Glad she's still eating the wet food. Keep a close eye on her if she drinks enough. If the sneezing and coughing gets more I would go to the vet
