Hellllp …. I am at my wits end. My Nala is 2.5 years old and she keeps pooping outside of the litter box. We took her to the vet and she does have feline corona (I FREAKED out ‍) Vet assured me she would be fine (we took her in in feb, they gave her an antibiotic she completed that) they recommended I clean, Dump litter replace with new liter and bleach all the liter boxes daily. Well she is STIIIIIIIIL pooping outside the box . We are currently using Tidy Cats lightweight clumping litter and have tried one from cat whisperer it was a corn based. We cannot use that the smell was ATROCIOUS ‍ She also has never covered her poop I’m open to any suggestions. I’ve spent soooo much on auto cleaning liter boxes, different type of boxes. I’m out of ideas. We even had 6 litter boxes at one point in the room. We have separated litter boxes. We do have a hairy male tabby. I’ve tried so much. But I know someone has ideas or can help me here! Thank you in advance!

@NalasMom1225 , ((((HUGS))). We are here for you.
my mom had an adoptee kitty with same issue. changed to dr elseys unscented (blue white bag) and no more issues. also , she stopped using plastic litter box liners.

what type litter boxes covered/ large? , you mention 6.
bless your heart for all you are doing. don't freak on the coronavirus, actually learned many would test positive. @Toa and Ross can chime in more.

I use covered boxes but always pop out the door flap. mine prefer the large boxes. good petstuff hidden litter box ( ***I do not use the moss or vines it comes with ) and the catit jumbo box (**pop out door flap). I do not use any litter deodorizer powders, and no litter catch tray. I use a mini wisk broom by each box, scoop 2x a day.

*** I will share, my first sphynx girl was strange.
she would pee in the dr elseys unscented covered large litter box, but would poo in the open litter lower profile box (just about 6 inch sides similiar to pink box pic ) of yesterday news unscented pellets in the box next to it.

*I buy on chewy, 100% satisfaction guarantee if item does not work out

is she spayed? boy tabby neutered? could be territorial behavior?

The Dr elseys litter is amazing. I use it also. And have u tried moving the littler boxes to different locations? Maybe where she is pooping? And I would definitely try a low profile plain litter box. She may just want to climb in and out. It’s cheap enough on Amazon to give it a try.

My little one only pooped out the box twice and that was in his first 6months with me I just got a bigger box each time and no issue. He used to never cover his business so I started leaving a hole in the litter with litter piled up next to it and as long as he has a hole he covers it up nicely
I wish you luck does she always do it in the same place outside her litter box or randomly leaving her presents lying about

Thank you all for your tips. I’m using the Dr E liter now and she still poops outside the box. We have been at the vets office more times that I can count with bacteria in her bowels. Antibiotics didn’t touch them the last time she just put her on a steroid. She’s just a mess. It’s almost like if she used the liter boxes once she won’t use them again until it’s cleaned.
She also in the last 4-5 months has started chewing her feet and licking and scratching her self to the point she is keeping us awake at night! If I try to lock her out she sits and the door and cries. Stressed mama over here :(

@NalasMom1225 , oh sweetie, squeeze hugs... can take some time with the DR E, took my moms kitty a few weeks. my girl would pee in the DR E, good pet stuff large box (I took off door flap) , then get out to an open low profile litter box with Yesterdays news unscented pellets to poop in.. was so strange. the fav box here is the goodpetstuff hidden litter box ( I dont use the decorative moss it comes *)
DId they do a PCR test? allergy testing? tried a novel protein food? sharing some members good results with Royal Canine Ultamino . side note sharing long term prednisone

remind me what bacteria? did they rule out crypto or tritrichomonas that requires a different med?

so sorry going thru this with your baby. hang in there, we are here for you.

sharing... I did train my bengal years ago like a dog. when he went poop/pee in box I would give praise and a treat right outside on the floor when he got out of the box. he quickly learned . i gave him random treats and praise for life.

is the box covered ? tall enough if so? perhaps its a comfort thing. some kitties like to stand on the edge of a litter box to poo which some litter boxes would be too short. is the box near a washer dryer? perhaps if machine on gets scared?
the good petstuff hidden litter box and the catit jumbo with door flap removed a fav here.

what size boxes? type of litter box do you use? just trying to brainstorm to help. I feel for you and your girl

do you have a pic of her skin to share with us?

I have one that went outside the litterbox often. In our case, it turned out to be a food sensitivity issue. Once we removed chicken from his diet (that was the allergy) he stopped doing it. He only ever does it now when he eats something he shouldn’t.

With the scratching and itching it makes me think she has an allergy issue. What is the main protein she eats chicken, beef etc?
