Hi sphynx fam!

It’s been a while since I’ve been here but I’m so grateful to have this community and resource!

Almond has recently developed these dots that scab over, almost like insect bites or something but this is very new and has never happened in the 7 years he’s been with me.

I went to the vet and they didn’t have much to offer in terms of diagnosis, they just gave me an antibiotic and told me to put him on benedryl too. I’m reluctant to put so much in his system, because he has a heart murmur that I’m worried about.

Has anyone had any experience with this before?

Please let me know any feed back would be awesome!

Thank you

@Almond , awh.. poor baby Almond, do you have pics to share? any change of litter, food? does almond wear clothing? some can get heat rash? change of detergent, soap, use coconut oil which no longer recommended as can clog pours, use dryer sheets? another member shared her kitty was allergic to gain detergent. , some allergic to chicken ingredients. please tell us more about baby Almond

***sharing benadryl can be wonky for some pets.. I know personally ,** my baby sam pup had an awful neurologica issue, tremors for days, etc. it was awful. my newer vet said it can be"wonky" for some pets. my vet suggested chlortabs dosage based by weight instead I have used with my kitties. (never give unless told so by vet for proper dosage etc) my vet sent me to walmart for equate chlortabs..you can ask your vet. it is same mg as the one sold for pets for more money.

what is the name of the antibiotic?

I am headed to bed soon, will be following, members will surely chime in. hope you can share some pics of his skin

Thank you so much for replying!

We haven’t switched up our detergent, and Almond doesn’t use littler he’s toilet trained so no changes there. Heat may be the culprit because he has been under some blankets in a hot home -our ac is currently on the fritz so it’s hot. I don’t use anything but a soft lavender wash for him no oils or lotions. His food has also been consistent nothing new introduced.

He has always had perfect skin and I take care of him like he’s an Angel (which all Sphynx cats are btw). That’s why I’m pretty worried.

I’ll post some pictures now hopefully it will be able to shed more light on the issue.

Thank you so much and I welcome all opinions here.

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your help and advice. I’m not sure what it was, but I gave it some time and monitored it and it went away! Might have been an allergy to a new bed I bought him for his birthday or some reaction from my dog having fleas. Thankfully my baby is healthy and looking beautiful now!
did you do anything or just leave him alone for a bit?
