Hello again! Long time no see, I hate to give a bad update but Bambi is STILL having soft poops / borderline diarrhea. Ever since I got him no matter what food I seem to try it just doesn’t work. So I am again looking for new diet recommendations for my boy. So far I have tried purina one, wellness, wellness core, nutrisource, (it is what he eats currently) puréed pumpkin (for fiber to hopefully harden stools, didn’t work), and fortiflora powder (also didn’t work).

I’m at such a loss trying to figure this out and it’s an expensive journey. The wellness and nutrisource were both recommended on here last time I asked for help but I guess they are not the right fit for bambi. I just really need help getting his stools hardened and I don’t know the correct diet. The vets could only offer me the flortifora and I used the entire box as recommended yet nothing changed. This has been an over year long battle and it is really taking a toll on me mentally. His poops are messy and smelly, and it gets everywhere when he goes and it is a pain to clean multiple times a day.

Please help, any and all recommendations welcome. Except for raw. As healthy and nutritious as it might be, I simply can not afford to keep him on a raw fed only diet unfortunately. I am looking for kibble and / or canned food recs only! :)

Went through all the same stuff as you and many others here. Took us almost a year to get our two straightened out. The magic food for us is Hounds & Gatos Beef Wet Food. The change was immediate. I order it online through K9Cuisine.com. It has been a game changer and a life saver! Good luck to you!

Not Sphynx-specific, but my best friend has had 30+ cats over her life, and swears by Taste of The Wild dry food for decreased poop and UTI issues. The Rocky Mountain flavor is the only one with high enough protein for sphynxs.

My newly adopted Glomptar is having the same issues. His feces is soft but not formless. At first, I thought it was from all the non-food stuff he put in his mouth, but ever since I switched to an open feed system, he's been much less adventurous in his digestive explorations, and the poo still isn't quite as formed as I would like it to be. Would love to see what other advice you've been given so far.

I wish I had read this post yesterday! They came with a small stack of Hounds & Gatos wet, but I just bought a 60-pack of Wellness Complete Health Poultry Lovers Pate Variety Pack. I would have stuck with the Hound and Gatos.

I will definitely give that a shot. Do you feed your babies kibble as well or only the wet?

I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with a similar issue! Yeah, the wellness gave my baby bad diarrhea. He was getting up every 10 minutes to go poop and it got more and more liquid the longer I had him on wellness unfortunately. Although, as for all cats their stomachs are all different so I can only hope he best outcome for you if you give the wellness a shot! It was recommended to me by another sphynx owner on here so it obviously works for someone lol. I was told though to maybe avoid the wellness “core” since it was richer in an ingredient (possibly protein?) and that some sphynxes are sensitive to high protein diets and can get an upset stomach over it. I tried both wellness and wellness core and his tummy was not happy on either one.

High protein/fat diets are always awesome and what we think of being best for them, but some cats just can’t handle the richness. We tried Buffalo Blue once and it was just too rich for one of ours and she had wet poop. You might look for a food not quite as high in protein/ fat. So often it is trial and error but it can take a couple of weeks to really see how they handle food changes so it can be frustrating for sure.

My Toly had a lot of poop issues and everything straightened out once I put him on Wellness canned. I think it’s just a matter of finding what is going to work for your kitty. They are all unique little beasties.
