So my Sphynx Phoenix is a retired breeder who is 4 years old. He was neutered 3 weeks ago now and it seems that he still looks like he was never neutered. I have heard that when adult cats get neutered the skin sometimes does not shrink. It doesn’t look swollen or infected. If anyone has any opinions it would be appreciated.

In the UK they don't remove anything any more, they tie the connecting bits and they just shrivel up. I'm assuming that's standard practice everywhere these days. As such, it takes a while for things to reduce in size. Rankle's took ages to shrink when he had his pockets picked.

Thank you so much for this! It is still pretty new, so I will just be patient.

The swelling will go down but he most likely will still have a larger sack then if he was done younger. My three year old boy who got done as an adult still has a much bigger one than my other boy who was neutered at around 18 weeks.
