Hi guys! So my husband and I (and my naked baby + furry baby) have moved in a new house (yay). I am just looking for a couple of tips. First problem I have is that Amadeus (my naked baby) wipes his eye gunk on the walls. Me being new to home owner I put 409 on it to clean it and its slightly discolored the wall (oopsie) so what do y'all use to clean their eye boogers off walls/floors etc? I am CONSTANTLY cleaning his little face I don't know what else to do!

#2 What shampoo should I be using to clean him? I was using the one my breeder recommended but after more research and googling questions my shampoo is used for showing. It strips all his natural oils off and even though it makes him squeaky clean, 2 days later he is FILTHY. I tried putting a shirt on him a couple weeks back and for some strange reason he didn't produce that much oil. His shirt is in the wash now and I am about to order a couple more (my husband thinks this is ridiculous lol) but I was hoping someone had a shampoo alternative that I could use mainly and then just occasionally use the one I have?

#3 I need nooks and crannies for my cat to climb and hide and such! Due to the old cat tree being too bulky and very heavy we have decided to sell it. With that being said I am looking for a high up bed for amadeus (he loves to sleep). But I also want him to be able to climb on things he's allowed to be on if that makes sense? We don't have room for a traditional cat tree but I was hoping someone could point me to a creative solution? something I can incorporate into the house? I was thinking of shelving on the walls and maybe a cat window but I am worried of cleaning those surfaces- anyone have any advice?

#4/#5 I need help finding cat treats. Amadeus won't eat ANY of the ones I have bought for him. The only thing he likes as a treat is tuna and when he slyly steals wet dog food (this has been an issue as well). He also NEVER plays with any of his toys I have mounds of toys for him and the only things he takes interest in is hunting down my 3lb 10 year old chihuahua or catching flies that make there way into the house. I want to get rid of his toys that he doesnt use (donate them to a shelter or something) but I don't want to get rid of them until I have something for him?

#6 HE DOESNT LIKE SCRATCHING POSTS. He won't use a scratching post but he will use my favorite chair :( I have put kitty naps on him for now but I don't always want to have to do this! I don't think its healthy for the cat and I want to heal the problem not put a bandaid over the problem. Anyone have ideas? I have a pheromone plug in that I bough several weeks back. He was a WRECK with the new move. We were so excited with the move I didn't even think that I had to slowly introduce Amadeus to the new space but that plug in has SAVED OUR LIVES. It has worked WONDERS. Amadeus is calm and happy and loves all this new space to run in. But he still wants to scratch. I know this is a natural thing and thats fine I just don't want him tearing up our nice furniture. What can I do to alleviate this problem? I had (as mentioned above) a very NICE cat tree with 4 scratching post alternatives. He never took to the cat tree. I mean the only part he "used" was the little hole to sleep in up high. What else can I do? I do have scrap carpet that I am saving bc I think he would like the texture? I am always into DIY projects so if anyone has something like that I am down for it!

Sorry for the novel :)

@Arielle Amadeus is a cutie pie and I'm glad that he is now calm in his new surroundings. When you say that he wipes his eye gunk on the walls, do you really mean that he shakes his head and it flicks onto your walls? LOL Just take a wet paper towel and clean off the eye gunk. No need to use chemicals to ruin your painted walls. I rarely see eye buggers on walls, I'll see them on the floor, but I scoop things up right away and don't let anything I see dry.

#2 Shampoo a great deal of the members here use is HyLyt Hypoallergenic Shampoo. It's gentle and rinses easily and doesn't cause skin issues.

#3 They sell cat shelving or you can make or buy any shelving and place it on the walls like a staircase so he can have fun going up and down safely and sleep up high and your floor space will be free of space...thus not having to get another cat tree. If you google ideas, you'll find plenty of interesting things to use.

#4 & #5 I stopped giving regular cat treats. I found it absolutely bothered tummies, even when I purchased grain-free. So now I just use their dry food kibble as a snack/treat. I don't leave it out all day as I feed wet canned food two times a day. I only give the dry at their bedtime and take it away when I get up.
Toys: If he's into cat nip, then I strongly suggest you spray is toys with the cat nip spray. I bought it in Petco and it always attracts my kitties to something new or something that they don't usually bother with.

#6 I'm not sure how tall your cat tree is, but if it's not really, really tall where he can stretch alllll the way up and then scratch, he's not going to be interested at all in them if he's like my kitties. I have two different ones that are very tall and they use them here all the time as they love to stretch up high first. Do they still scratch on my furniture? Yes, they do! But the tall ones I purchased...one was from Petco and the other one was from Overstock.com. Again, when I bring something like that into the house, I always spray it with the liquid cat nip spray.
What you can do to discourage him from scratching on your furniture besides getting him a very tall scratching post, is putting double-sided sticky tape on the furniture where you don't want him to scratch. They don't like the feeling of the stickiness and will not go back there.

I think I covered everything...if not, just tell me what I missed or what else you need to know.

@Arielle ,Warm welcomes in Your new home!
Amadeus is soooo handsome, what a face!

1. Do you give him l-lysine ? It's a Good supplement many of us use for maintaince I find helps with eye stuff
For cleaning walls I those magic eraser sponges - Walmart brand , Home Depot brand or name brand In bowl of plain water -
Takes off all dirt and marks - I use them to Clean white floor molding too even dogs favorite spot cleans like magic!

2. I don't do clothes here bcz mine got caught in it and almost hung herself- freak thing but won't chance again-
It only takes once amd some get skin problems if clothes left on-

I love Hylyt and avenalyt soap free ez rinse smell good shampoo - use on all 4 Sphynx amd no skin issues
I use it very very very diluted - just a couple of drops in a pitcher of warm water with baby face cloths for in between wipe downs - I only bath every 2-3 weeks using this in between . I find it works better than unscented alcohol free baby wipes I just use for nails now

3. Members have awesome kitty wall shelves ideas and projects to share -
I went for the small 24 " foot print of the kitty mansions cat tree with padded top perches and condo house - I take away the greenery so they don't chew it - it's dark grey and dark brown sisal so doesn't stick out so much 23x23x75 amd all four go warp 8 up it at the same tie, amd is does my move- ( sale coupons online too free shipping )
Redwood

They loooove it in front of indirect sun window, vacuums easy , has scratch sisal.
But mine prefer cat scratch posts turned on its side to last ad on line a tree trunk

4/5- treats - forget about it here - no one likes bagged treats -none-
I accidemtly stumbled across science diet urinary hairball dry kibble - that they love as treats! Win win and cheaper in long run - they co,e running for it - so much I can train the, with this kibble!

Toys - we all have baskets of really cute toys lol - like new! they prefer household straws , Dabird , cat dancer , ping pong balls
I swear I am not buying one more cat toy :) none not even for xmas ! A box of straws and a new Dabird refill will do :) and a new turbo chaser refill - they like that toy

Donating to a shelter is nice :)

6. Scratching posts - well, one day I knocked the never used post over on its side - Viola- now the best thing !
Stand on it like a tree to scratch -:)
My adoptee likes a small flat carpet scratcher "lean it scratching post " but put felt on floor instead - - he goes to religiously
His brother will only use one of those flat beige bolstered dog beds like at Walmart as a scratcher
The ultimate cat scratched is tall with optional sitting pad perch - Claire bare and Macie like it

With all scratchers - sounds silly but you can train them - I have a scratch post party :)
I scratch on it , the. They scratch then lots of praise and a few pieces of the science diet kibble as a treat -
They religiously go to their favs now to scratch first ting waking up :)

Hope this helps! You will get lots of good suggestions to pic amd choose from

Head smooches sent !
