Our family has just been blessed with two baby boys. We have had them 1 week and already we have forgotten what life was like without them

I'm going to read the forum as I am looking for tips and advice on what to do when the boys start play fighting. they look like they are really hurting each other. Also they try and play fight with everyone in our household. Any tips?

Also do we need to make a point of picking the boys up constantly to get them used to being that way or will their nature change as they get older?

They are both 16 weeks

Welcome to Sphynx Lair, and Congrats on your new additions! Your two boys are gorgeous! Kittens play fight. Especially since they are 2 little boys, they will get a little rough. Unless if they seem to be really hurting one another, I would let them play it out. If you feel the need to stop them, just distract them by tossing another toy around. As to picking them up, now is the best age to get them used to anything that will be done to them in the future! Cut their nails, bathe them, rub their bellies, pick them up, socialize them...etc. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Hi Sphynx_Mama and welcome to Sphynxlair! Congrats on your new Sphynx kittens! Yes, they will play rough at times and spending time with them and holding them will get them used to you and your family quicker. Naturally Sphynx will be very loving to their owners but because they have each other as buddies you may have to wait your turn for their affection!!LoL:Laugh:

Welcome to the Lair!!! Congrats on your two new little boys.

I just got a sphynx kitten a few weeks ago now and she plays pretty rough with my 1.5 yr old Sphynx...I get worried sometimes. We usually just distract them or throw a toy across the room and the kitten will go chase it and leave my older Sphynx alone. Sometimes the older will go chase her and other times she wont. The longer you observe the more you'll pick up on their communication to each other.

Welcome Sphynx_Mama. Your boys are very handsome.

I wouldn't worry about their playing too rough. If one decides they don't like it they'll run away. Luckily they'll calm down a little bit when they get older.

One thing - if the boys are playing rough with humans, discourage that. If they start attacking your hand, just sharply say "no" and let your hand go limp, then slowly withdraw it. What is cute in a kitten isn't cute in an adult - and lots of people wouldn't like a full grown cat attacking their hand when they reached out to pet the kitty.

Good advice has already been given, now is the best time to get them used to baths, ear cleaning, nail trimming, all the things you'll be doing for the rest of their lives that they may not like. Teaching them to tolerate it will make everyone's future much easier!
