Hi all,

I just joined today because...drum roll please...I will be getting a Sphynx kitten toward the end of November!

I wasn't planning this at all. I mean, I did some research on the breed maybe 7 years ago but fell in love with my Egyptian Mau sisters and the rest was history. A coworker recently announced that she was getting her dream kitty, a Sphynx, and showed us pictures. I just went to the breeder's site to "look" and fell hard for a little tortie girl! Uh oh...I've heard stories about "tortitude" and now I will get to experience it first hand.

I'm so excited and already dreaming of Sleepy Pods and Sweaters! LOL

I look forward to meeting all of you and hearing more about your Sphynx!

(Ultimate irony, the pin brush and greyhound comb I ordered for my other cats just came, lol.)

Hi Susan, Welcome to the forum! ...and welcome to the longest two months of your life!
The waiting is the hardest part...

I just adopted a 2 year old tortie girl about a month ago - she is my 4th, careful, they are addicting!!

Can't wait to see photos of your new baby.

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm a low tech kinda gal so it took me a bit, but I got her pic loaded into my signature.

I've only just started to think about names but one has already popped into my head and I just can't shake it. Me being me, I will still have to spend the next few days obsessing and reviewing every Egyptian baby name I can find only to come back to that first totally non-egyptian name anyway. ;)

If you're anything like me, and the rest of us for that matter, you are in for a very joyful animal experience with your sphynx. Sometimes I sit at work or in line at the DMV just counting the minutes til I get to see my little buddy. I just spent two weeks away from him. Man did I miss him.

Welome to Sphynx Lair.
I almost got a Totie sphynx.
I was stuck between Cleo who is black and white and a tortie.
A year ago today I picked Cleo.
The waiting is the worst part.
I had to wait until Dec to get her.
I would love to see more pictures of her.
She is pretty.
You can never have 1 sphynx.
The picture on my sig is one of the pictures I got from her breeder before I got her.
I also have a seal/white blue eyed sphynx that I got last week.
I hhave had tortie cats and some did have the tude.
My Meeko does sometimes and and she also purrs all the time.
She is not a sphynx.

Congrats, proud mommy! Everyone's right. . . the wait seems like forever. You will have tons of stories and pictures to share. This is one place you can "obsess" over the sphynx and not be seen as crazy. :p We look forward to hearing all about her.

Awww...I already sit at work and wonder what my furkids are doing at home and wishing I were there. My Mom is retired, so she's home with them, so I know they are safe...just nicer if I could be there too.

The breeder had a tortie point that is gorgeous but had been reserved the day before I inquired. Actually, it was just as well because it was this tortie with the "pink" chin that caught my eye first. She has two sisters with a lot more red, but I liked her dark little self. :)

Okay...I'm up to 2 names now!

Oh, that's so wonderful to hear!

I already know some members of my family are going to use the "U" word (ugly). They just don't grasp the aesthetic. Ya know? It's nice to have a place where you don't have to explain and you can just gush and everyone "gets" it.

I'm sure they are addictive but I think we'll be just fine with one naked heathen for now!

Its ok ignore them
Cleo has been called ugly by my family.
My sister loved Cleo so much that she got a sphynx a few weeks ago and has another one coming soon.
How old is the kitten now?

She was born August 26th. The breeder doesn't let them go home until they are 12 weeks and I really appreciate that! If she had shoved them out the door at 8 weeks, I would have run, not walked in the opposite direction. I think she said anytime after November 20th.

The best part is that she's just a couple of hours from me so I can pick up in person and meet the parents. No worries about airlines and temperatures or being scared to death that the kitten made the flight but I'm stuck in bad weather and can't get to her.

That is good she waits until they are 12 weeks old.
My new sphynx was lost by the airline last week.
I am glad you can drive to get her.
It was 2 cold twice to ship Cleo my first sphynx.

Big Warm Welcome: She is going to melt your heart! Ihave heard the "ugly" thing from many but My baby was the most gorgeous thing ever. I told her every day! I am waiting for my 2 new babies. They will be home in less than 2 weeks. Share your pics. You won't find a more appreciative audience.
