I'm wondering if there is anyone here that lives in the Niagara Region (Canadian side) that feeds raw and if so; have you ever tried Happy Howlers?

I was online looking for a supplier to try switching Elfie over to raw, because the Flora Forta the vet gave her has turned into a nightmare (bloody poops everywhere), and I came across this small family owned business that makes human grade raw diets for pets.

Was just wondering if there was any one here who has heard of them?

have not heard of them yet , but what do you have to loose ? Only gain no bloody poopies. Try it out, or call them and ask them questions about your concerns you have . I am sure if its a small fam buisness , they will be more then helpfull to answer all your questions .

Do you mean there was literally blood in the poop from the forti flora?

I called the vet yesterday morning at 8am, then again at 10:30am.
She didn't feel the need to return my call until 5:45pm and even then just had one of the techs call me back.
She doesn't seem to agree that it's the Forta Flora, but the issue didn't start until the day after she was on it and got progressively worse every day that she was.
Her "idea" was for me to spend another 55$ to have the poop tested.
(This is not my normal vet, but is in the same office)

I did go to meet with the owner of Happy Howlers last night however.
They were wonderful, they sat with me for about 45mins and answered all of my questions. Went over all of their practices with me. Outlined the steps I should use to transition.
Really seemed to care about the well being of my Little Elffie.

Even gave a 2 week supply for free, said that they wanted to wait and see how Elfie takes to raw before I have to invest too much money.

All and all a wonderful experience and I'm looking forward to a long relationship with them!

I haven't heard of happy howlers (glad to hear they were so helpful though!). We just started feeding Penelope raw food thoughnand she loves it. We live in Hamilton; please keep us posted on how your little one does on it if you transition over :)

Happy eating Elfie!

How would the cost compare to feeding a high end dry food? Just very curious,,I don't know anyone who feeds raw.

@Denise
The cost is actually less! I use to spend 40$ per month on kibble and another 15/20$ in canned.
Elfie is eating about 4oz a day (and is sometimes leaving food in the bowl) so I bought 10lbs which will get me through the month with some to spare at this rate and it cost me 34.50$
I was amazed!

@roboat
If your not making your own raw I would highly recommend Happy Howlers; I know it's a bit of a trip for you but, if you buy in bulk and keep the freezer full it wouldn't be so bad.
Elfie is doing amazing, she loves her new food and begs to be fed. Her skin is clearing up, no more little white bumps and dry patches and her poops could win a trophy! (Strange sure, I'm just such a happy mom right now, lol)

The transition was easy, come day 3 she refused to eat her kibble and that was the end of that!

Good luck with Penelope and I hope you see such dramatic improvements just as quickly!
