I have been feeding my cats raw for about three weeks now. As you may recall Sera my hairy got spayed on Monday and it is now Saturday. I cannot verify that her or Vito have pooped since then. Short of switching them back to kibble what can I do to make them poop and not have diarrhea when they do?

Have you tried adding Fortiflora to their raw? It's good for digestion.

Apart from being on 24/7 Poop watch, or installing a video camera & reviewing the tape (and yes, when I had two cats and feared that one wasn't going, I set up my video camera, recorded 24 hours and reviewed the tape on fast forward... I understand obsession and cat concern), I'm not sure what else can be done.

Is Vito still active and playful? If he hasn't pooped, he'd be feeling a little uncomfortable and likely lethargic.

HUGS!!!!

Neither of them are lethargic or vomiting, tho someone puked during the night 2 days ago but there was no food in the puke.

The poop will be not stinky and a lot more compact. Can you go hunting in the litter box to check?

Some who switch don't see a poop for 1-2 days but 5-6 days seems like too long.

We feed Forti flora with the raw but I really have no idea of its effect on poop, didn't notice a difference here in how regular they went but we didn't have any issues with constipation.

Like Xandria said they might be lethargic and bloated it they haven't pooped in so long

You can try this trick: take a warm wet paper towel and wipe their anus with it gently a few times. It mimicks how momma cats get their babies to go to the bathroom. Then put them in the litter box right after.

We have had success doing this a few times. Be aware too that if the bone content in food is too high, this can cause constipation.

My Omar da cat did not do good on raw
I switched him to dry kibble and did not look back
And very very few health issues in nearly 17 years

We give Eudo canned along with his (well rehydrated freeze-dried) raw (the stinker won't eat unprocessed raw!). His poops are still a bit too small and hard to my liking, but he does poop at least 1x/day. I would love to give him pumpkin, but of course he won't eat it. (Alas, I have the freak sphynx that is finicky...)
