Hello all. I have 3 beautiful Sphynx cats and I love them so much! My Boy Moonglum (Glum for short) is the reason for the post. He is a little over a year now and after many vet trips countless changes to litter and box, a million tips and articles on the internet to no avail I cannot get him to stop the inappropriate bathroom issues outside the box. My entire 2nd floor is lined with pee pads because my hardwood floors are ruined. It’s causing a huge problem in my home with my husband and I don’t know what else to do. I may have to find another home for him with someone who is better equipped to handle the issues.

Did you discuss with your vet possibly trying Prozac? Have you tried different types of litter boxes and litter? This litter might help as well

It can be very frustrating when a cat/kitten starts not using the litter box. The first thing to do is see your vet to rule out a UTI (urinary tract infection) if your cat see is peeing outside of the litter box. A urinary infection can become very serious very fast if it is not treated quickly...

I am so very sorry you are going thru this with Glum.
please remind me is he neutered? are the other 2 neutered/spayed? are there outside kitties he can sense?

do litter boxes have a cover? door flap? I found my boys like the largest litter box,I use the jumbo catit and remove the door flap. their other fav is the good petstuff hidden litter box. (I dont use the vines or moss it comes with) and use dr elseys unscented litter. see the litter catzzzmeow shared above. I have at least 1 extra litter box per kitty.

I feel for you. decades ago I adopted a male bengal retiree. he was neutered immediately. I did a kitty room for him and trained him like a dog to the litter box before free roaming. everytime he went in and came out praise and treat right in front of the box as he exited. he quickly learned. I did random treats for his entire life.
you can also ask your vet about Buspirone (Buspar)

* you could use an inexpensive black light flash light to check urine areas and treat.

when I bought my first house one room had awful urine smell. I treated and used KILZ afterward to paint/redo.

Sorry to hear you'rr dealing with this issue. This is so frustrating. How does Glum get along with the other 2? Maybe it is a stress issue?
