Hello,

I am new to this forum and owning a Russian sphynx (Donsky) kitten.

Our family has had precious little Donald for around 5 weeks now and he has only been in the USA.

We are totally in love snd awe with him, he can stand, high 5, turn around, sit, come, and get i. His carrier all in this short time.

Donald has become unwell and well I am beside myself and freaking out, I recently put my first post up in the “small amount of blood in stool post” in the hope some experienced sphynx owners can help me out as I desperately want to fix my little man as soon as I can.

let me share some pics of our blue eyed, webbed toed little guy.

I look forward to chatting with you

Hello @Rachlp and welcome! What a cutie you have there! :) Has there been a food change of any sort recently? New treats? Food changes can cause bloody stools.

Hello,

thank you for your reply.

Yes, because he was vomiting up the Royal Canin Kitten, we changed to Science Diet kitten but mixed together at first. We also added in some wet food as that dry food made him go to the toilet much less.

Last night there was barely any blood in his stool, so we are eagerly awaiting what happens today.

We have now started limited his eating and serving his dry food up with warm water 3 times a day with Royal canin wet does once a day and Curt out the kitten milk vitamin gel to see if that was too much in His belly, maybe me trying to help too much complicated stuff :( which made me very upset at myself but he is playing and ate all of his breakfast so I’ll hopefully provide a positive update in this chat
Thank you for your message, I feel much more relieved dealing with experienced sphynx owners :)

Welcome to sphynxlair. Donald is so handsome. And way too cute. What a clever boy, he learns fast with training.
Kittens tummies are upset easily, specially when changing foot. Glad to hear the blood is already less. Good sign he's still playing, eating and drinking

Hello @Toa and Ross and @Yoda mom

How are you all.

The last few days have been interesting.

Donald had been experiencing some feral hilarious behaviour, such as jumping and hanging off me, jumping up and wrapping his arms around me pretending to bite and even doing it to my face, I wondered if it was just an I own you type situation but now for the last two days we have had diarrhoea and stepped it through the RV so we will just stopped the royal canin kitten wet food for a few days and maybe just give him some plain tinned tuna or something to dry him up, so you guys think that is the right course of action, I think he is definitely quieter today so must be feeling sick in the tummy, I just want him to be feeling good again, his eaten a bit of dry food and some training treats but that’s all for today and being a first time sphynx mummy of course I’m freaking out

Any advice would help me so very much

No - don't feed tuna or anything else for humans. Take away the cat food for now. No treats either. Take everything away that he's been eating.

Now, you can feed him homemade cat food which we talked about in the other thread. Or another option is you can make turkey or chicken, broth but you can only give him broth for a few days because it's not balanced nutrition. If you go for the broth, use bone-in meat and let it simmer on low heat for several hours. The bone cartilage and gelatin is nutritious so you want all that to go in the water.

You seem like someone who really wants to give her cat everything, but human food and treats are not good. I feel like I'm whistling past the graveyard so this is the last I'll say on it - he is a carnivore so he needs for you to feed him meat. You can be sure that if he has diarrhea he already has inflammation, which eventually leads to IBD, etc. But you can help him. Meat is the solution.

Hi everyone,

We have been travelling the US and for all those that wanted to see how Donald travels in the RV, get ready for a Donald overload.

First image is Donald getting use to his harness
Next is from the outside of the RV -Donald doing what he does best lol.

Travelling in the front seat on the heated blanket

Just chilling in the big boy seat

Playing hide and seek

And sun baking of course
