Out of control catnip plants

Help, I can't control my catnip growth. It's taking over my garden. My peppers and tomatoes need some lovin too. That stuff is growing like there's no tomorrow and it's slowly taking over. It's already made one of my bell pepper plants succumb to it's hearty grip.

It's so funny when I give it to ButterBall. He turns his nose up at it at first then I roll it in a little ball to release the oils. Man that stuff is strong. Anyway, after ButterBall turns his nose up at it, he proceeds to kick it around and then eat it. He doesn't just nibble at it, he scarfs it down like chicken. I have yet to notice if it makes him frisky though. Maybe with age.

I haven't planted catnip for fear of that but I did buy one of the things with cat grass seeds in it that you grow in the house & Kramer loves it! I think he likes pulling the grass out of the dirt! Then eats it. Yesterday he got a blade of grass stuck in his lip & he looked like a little hilbilly with a thing of grass hanging out of his mouth.

I had the same problem but it was mint! Holy crap!!!! That stuff doesn't stop. I ripped it all out and still getting sprouts. So don't plant mint! I think I'll do cat nip in a pot!

does cat nip need direct sunlight to grow?
maybe i will get one......but i dont have direct sunlight.

Not sure about catnip but the kitty grass they sell germinates in about 4 days & just needs some light it doesn't have to be super bright.

Catnip can be grown indoors. It does need a sufficient amount of light. If you have a bright area you should be OK. Peppers and Tomatoes need direct light though and those darn catnip plants are stealing it all. I'll probably have to do a little pruning.

I'm no botanist but I think catnip is in the mint family. The two are very similar. At least in smell.
