My kitten is 12 weeks old today. It seems like every week she is having a pee accident in bed! Now, she is tiny and it is quite a jump to get down from our tall bed, but she does it often. It's has happened twice in the past 2 weeks and moments ago she went on our bath may even tho I had just put her in front of the litter box!

I have done some research and it seems it could be a UTI....?? We are traveling in our RV, which is our home, and won't be able to get to a vet here until Monday. Anything we should do in the meantime?? She is eating fine, but she won't eat her kibble any way other than wetted down and mushed up, that is normal for her. I notice that she doesn't drink much. I have tried both tap water and bottled water and she just isn't a drinker. I'm freaking out a little, I think! Any advice would be helpful!

Also, we have only had her for a couple short weeks.

I don't have a female. But my boy is 16 weeks old and he only uses the litterbox half the time! :hungover:
I've been putting litterboxes down in any spots he goes to the bathroom that is NOT a litterbox. It seems to be helping. My husband got paid today so tomorrow when we do our weekly grocery shopping I am going to try a different type of litter.:yuck:

@jenna joy, agree with a vet check Monday to play it safe-
When she does use the box does she go in and out more than usual , strain or cry, in the box or accidents?
Have you change litter? Scoop so there is nothing in the box for her next potty trip? Just try g to brain storm--

Can you put a little make shift ramp on the bed so she can get down easier of now or try in you travels for one of those little pet steps?

Also , if you can blot a part towel under her when she pees to see if it is tinged any pinkness?

I would try some canned food over the weekend to try to get so,up moisture into her since she doesn't drink a whole lot of water- I know some folks flavor the water foe sick kitties with a tiny bit of juice from a can of chicken breast..
With Uti 'a you want to avoid fish products-

Also , mine will only drink from certain bowls- so,e like little plastic condiment bowls or stainless little dishes and I change the water 3xs a day wiping out the bowl-fussy cats here but it males them drink more.. I know a pet fountain would be hard traveling but they do sell small drinkwell pet fountains

Keeping our thoughts with you across the miles for your baby!
Please keep us updated

Giz was doing that when I first brought him home. The breeder suggested giving him a small room of his own for a week to adjust. I went in with him several times a day for play and feed. Sure enough it worked. I guess its just overwhelming for them at first. Good luck :)

I noticed that Roo was a bit dehydrated because when you lifted his skin it didn't go back into place it stayed pinched, and when I was a vet tech several years ago that was a sign of dehydration that we used to use a lot to tell if an animal was dehydrated. I started adding a very small amount of water to his wet food and also about half a teaspoon of pedialyte in his wet food and in his water and now his skin goes right back to normal when you lightly pull it up.

Hope things get better with your baby. Let us know what you find out.
You said she would pee outside the box. What about poo? Does she do that outside the box also?

She usually yells in the potty, so that wouldn't be unusual. I scoop her poo'd immediately and her pee's just after they harden a bit. We use the same litter as her breeder, so that never changed. And she gets quite a but of water from us wetting down her dry food for her to eat it. She is fed Wellness Core kitten, so we are definitely filling her with quality food. She cannot eat it dry because the kibble bits are pretty large for a kitten food. (Seems kinda foolish to me) Bladder infection was my first thought because she does her poo business in the potty, but the pee pee is sometimes in the bed. So frustrating!

Sorry to hear of your baby's pee problems. After seeing the vet and ruling out a medical problem, you might try Cat Attract litter.

As far as the water issue goes, some sphynx prefer a drinking glass to a bowl. I hope it all works out soon!

You said she is just 12 weeks old and that you've had her for a couple of weeks? That is too young...I keep mine until they are 14 weeks old. Those added weeks give them extra practice with mama for things like this. My only advice is to make sure you clean the pee with an enzymatic cleaner to stop repeat peeing there. Try to give her an easy way off the bed and put her in the box before she gets up, or after she's been there awhile. Good luck! And do check for any medical reason first.
