Can anyone recommend which UK pet air travel company to use? Am relocating from UK to South Africa and will be taking my sphynx with me - obviously! I intend to be a passenger on the same plane as her and to make the journey as stress free as possible for her. I know she can't travel in the cabin with me, which willl be awful, but what can I do... I thought getting a pet travel specialist involved would be the best way forward.
I would be grateful for advice.

Why can't she be in the cabin with you? Is that just a UK to Africa thing?
Next questions are if she needs to be quarantined before entering. That might change how you bring her in.
A travel specialist could make the trip easier on you. Then you know your baby is being looked after if she can't be in the cabin with you.

The airlines which operate from Europe/UK to South Africa won't allow pets in cabin. Unfortunately. And no, so long as she has the correct paperwork at entry, she doesn't need to be quarantined. Thank goodness.

At least she doesn't need to be quarantined! And it shouldnt be too cold in the cargo.
Sucks that she can't be in the cabin though. I would imagine she should be fine though. I assume she would just sleep. I've only gone on hour long plane rides with my girl and she just sleeps. Doesn't even bat an eye at landing or take off. She is in the cabin though. But she has to be under the seat and on the floor, so she can't see me. So I can't do much for comfort.
Hopefully someone else on here has some advice!

I don't know about which airlines are good however I do know SA very strict on their requirements being met if one thing off she'll end up spending 6 months in quarantine! So be very sure its all done before the shots have to be done a certain time before etc. I'll ask some of my friends who may know.

Pet Air UK is one I know of, but I haven't used them.
Jalsa UK (jalsauk.com) is another. They are DEFRA approved, so should know their stuff.
I'm afraid the only "pet" I've ever had shipped was my horse from UK to Germany, and those are very specialized shippers. (LOC Horse Transport in Surrey) However... they work with other companies and they *might* know someone and be able to give you some reputable names.
It can't hurt to ask.

One thing I can say, is that there are some pretty unscrupulous people shipping animals, and to go with recommendations if you are able to.
We had a girl at the stud who pretty much ran out on us overnight, and when she had her horse collected to ship it back to Denmark...there were NO health papers, the horse hadn't been seen by a vet, and the shippers took him anyway... Considering he was at a stud, which regularly imports horses from the US (and which had had a suspected strangles case at the time!!!)...that horse could have spread strangles to the other horses on the truck, and all the way to Denmark!
