Hello! I'm very worried about my kitty.
He is a little over a year old, and I've had him for almost a year. Recently he's started whining/howling. He whines and whines and whines, and whenever I try to comfort him he gets shy (which isn't like him AT all). He doesn't like being picked up anymore (this started just last week).
He is eating and using the bathroom like normal, he is also playful during the day still. He's just also been aggressive during the day. He doesn't cuddle anymore, and he will actually bite one of the people living in my house.
His attitude is very very weird.
I am planning on taking him to the vet soon, but the none of the vet offices in or around my area has seen Sphynx cats before, so I want to get some sort of idea or thoughts from Sphynx parents as to what it could be.

I'm personally thinking it might be a depression thing, in which case I have NO idea how to fix w/o getting another animal (I've got him and a dog, I can't get any other pets right now).

Please help:(

Hello @QueenHairless and welcome to sphynxlair for you and your boy. We always love to see photos:).

Is your boy fixed? If not, his behaviour can be caused by hos hormones. Howling cause he wants a lady cat. Getting him neutered can solve the problem.

If he's already neutered I would let him checked by the vet to make sure he's not in pain or is not feeling well.

Are you home a lot? Is he your only pet? Do you give a lot of attention to the person he did bite? Maybe he feels lonely or he's jealous? Sphynx cats needs lot of attention. Please don't think I'm judging, just want to think it through with you so you can think of what can cause the problem.

Hope you'll find out what's bothering him!

If he use to enjoy being picked up but doesn't any more and cries for it I'd take him to the vet quicker then "soon" he may be in pain and that why he doesn't want picking up and that may have caused him to bite.

If it's not that then I would try by giving him attention play with him with a toy he may have pent up energy he can't get rid of it he simply wants his humans attention. Sphynx are attention whores they can't just be left to their own devices they want our attention I have two and although they play together they still suck all attention out of me :)

Thank you for your replies!
He is not fixed, but his app for getting fixed is in two weeks, but that makes sense as to why he would be howling!
He has his vet appointment next week, which is the soonest we could get him in, so we'll see what the vet has to say.
He gets a lot of attention from everyone in the house. I am home a lot and try to give him as much attention as I can but it seems like it's not enough right now. We're also moving soon, so i think he feels neglected almost because I'm focused on the move and getting things packed.

Thank you for everyone's help and advice.

@QueenHairless You can be pretty sure the behavior is due to not being neutered then. That is great you are setting up his appt to be fixed. Remind vet not to use ketamine for the anesthesia as the breed is known for not doing well with it. Neutering will help to stop behavioral problems, howling, as well as hopefully deter spraying, and not to mention has been linked to living longer.

Welcome to sphynxlair, good to have you.
You have gotten great advice. I agree, it's most likely because
he's not been neutered.
