Hello,

My cat is around is 1 years old and have had him since a kitten. The past week he has been off his food, he is eating but not as much as normal.
I noticed that he was sick a few days last week.
He seems okay in himself, he is normally lazy so his behaviour has not changed.
I’m worried because he appears to be losing weight.
The vets are not very knowledgable about the breed. Therefore I am asking for some advice.
Does anyone have suggestions on what I can give him to help with his stomach and get him eating more.

Thank you

See your vet, it is not about the “breed” when they are not eating, it is a sign they are not feeling well and standard exams/tests should be done like with any cat. Any change in behavior/habits it’s always best to go get a vet check. @ LittlePablo losing weight at a young age is always concerning. Keep us updated.

@LittlePablo , hugs n positive vibe head smooches for your baby. agree for peace of mind vet check. you can also bring a stool sample . I live in a small town and no sphynx specific vet. My vet is always open to consulting with colleagues .

any chance he got into something he should not have ? plants etc?
you can also check for dehydration.

keep us updated on vet visit.. all paws are family.

Hi . I would give your vet a call and get him checked out. Like another member said, its about the type of animal not so much the breed at this level, plus your vet can lease with others across the country regarding specifics of the breed. I hope everything goes well xx

How is his fluids intake if he is drinking normally if not try to encourage him by drinking chicken broth it is not an alternative but it is important he drinks. You do not want him to become dehydrated as well. Just boil any chicken you have in your freezer. It will also help to get a urine sample for the vet

Oh my hat what a panic he has you in just to prove a point. I am glad all it cost you was a bag of cat food not a lengthy vet bill. Thank you so much for keeping us updated I was very worried about your little chap

Hey everyone, thank you for all the messages!
It turns out he was just bored of his food, and got a little stubborn and refused to eat it. All sorted now he has new food which he loves and is eating again and is back to normal! His weight is also much better too!
Thank you all!
That's a relief! I was going to say the heat may also slow down food intake! Godd for both of you!
