Hello!!! I am feeding Primal raw nuggets rabbit and I was wondering if anyone else uses this and what serving size you use. My girl is right around 5lbs (she's very petite) and it says for her weight to do 2-3 nuggets a day. Right now, I am at 6 and she still begs and screams for food. I'm a stay at home cat mom (lol yes I know, and no I'm not crazy) so I am able to feed her every few hours throughout the day. 6 nuggets is supposed to be for a 15-20lb cat. I know with their faster metabolism hey should eat more, but this is a little crazy!!! Any help or suggestions welcome. Unfortunately, due to severe allergies and IBD she cannot have any supplements or add-ins to her diet. Thanks in advance for any help or insight you can provide!!!!

*edit: blood work is normal and no parasites. She's just a hungry girl :)

I'm not familiar with that food - Primal does offer a calculator here -http://www.primalpetfoods.com/education/calc if you have not done so already that may help with the amount. :)

As long as she's not extremely overweight, and 5 lbs. Isn't.
I would feed her. I wouldn't let her go hungry.
But, not eat to the extent, that, she throws up.

Hi @JenniSaysMeow. We used to use Primal raw, but it ended up that our Loki was allergic and kept throwing it up after a couple weeks of being on it. For some reason he doesn't do well with the commercial raw, and now we just make it ourselves at home with Better in the Raw.

I know that using Primal, Stella's and Nature's Variety raw, both of our cats always ate a lot more than the suggested serving size. Loki and Gatsby were already 1 year old when they started eating it, and if I can recall, they ate 2.5 nuggets and were fed three times a day. It is hard for kitties on raw to become overweight, so I would suggest maybe increasing her food just a little bit if she still seems really hungry.

Are you feeding her just one meal a day? Sometimes it's best to divide up the portions into a couple times a day.

Oh, Skrillex was really ill last year and got really thin right? That is good she has put on weight again.. 5lbs is still TINY so I would keep feeding her as many as you are now.. like others said try to split it into 3 meals or so... and just keep an eye on her weight. I think she would have to put on a lot to be considered overweight though, and a little extra might be a good thing in case of IBD flare ups.

I always fed a bit more raw than the packaging suggested and didn't have any problems with overweight cats.

I know I'm a bit late to this thread, but I am feeding a mix of Primal nuggets and my girl eats 6 nuggets per meal, twice a day. She is 6 months now, but she always cries when we put less in the bowl. Since she is still a kitten, I'm not too worried about her weight, but seeing that I feed her double what everyone else does, I'm getting nervous, now.
