Random swollen neck under ear

My boy was perfect fine, normal and happy. He had snatched about 3 Cheerios and about 15-30 mins later we noticed his whole neck under his ear was inflamed It’s Sunday so the vet is closed, he’s breathing fine and heart rate is normal. Any suggestions???

Do you have a picture? It sounds like a potential spider bite. @Catzzzmeow has experience with those.

Ochi was bitten by a spider

Hubby rushed him to the vet immediately without even calling. I could see it was that serious we should not wait. Thankfully he was stable and was given 2 shots. He could barely walk when he got home, due to what we assume was the shot in his rear leg...a few hours later the swelling went down...

Yes it looks like a bite to me. But he’s breathing ok? Is he acting normal?

He is breathing fine, normal heart rate and temp. He threw up the Cheerios which I thought could have caused it. I was hoping that would help but it’s still warm to touch and he doesn’t like it touched so it’s painful or uncomfortable He’s just sleeping a lot besides using the bathroom. Hasn’t even wanted to each which is really abnormal.

It might be best to visit an emergency vet now. The swelling can increase overnight while you are sleeping and you may wake up to him in a much worse state. I know it’s not fun and they are expensive. But it’s what’s best.

I agree a 24 hour emergency vet is a must.

Thank you all! I had called the emergency vet that my vet recommends and she told me to bring him in if there were any signs of it getting worse, him not eating or drinking. He woke up this morning and it was more than 50% smaller and now it looks normal. Thank GOODNESS! I was so worried. He has a vet visit coming up and they are aware.

Happy to read it's way better today. My boy Ross had a swollen neck once. It went away after a day. I never found the cause. Luckly it never happened again
