Rash and scabs

My poor baby has been covered in this rash for about 5 months now and my vet is convinced it’s a food allergy but I don’t think it is as I have done everything they have told me to do and it hasn’t gotten any better. The rash scabs a brownish color on the top of his head, cheeks, neck, and front legs. Has any one seen anything like this before or have any idea what it is and what I can do to make it better. He hasn’t changed his behavior at all since he started to break out but i just want him to have his skin feel better.

Have you changed foods , use scented litters , fabric softener or dryer sheets ?

What food are you feeding ?
How often do you both , want cn be sensitive to shampoos too
Many of us use hylyt shampoo , it’s hypoallergenic soap free. Can go weeks without full spa days eoth touch ups I’m beteeen . Do you use unscented or scented baby wipes ?

Did the vet do a skin scraping to rule out bacterial or yeast ?

Btw what is his name ?

Do you use coconut oil ? Two members recently posted their kitties had an allergic skin reaction to coconut oil

Another kitty was allergic to laundry gain pods

If you've been following the vet's instructions to the T for five months with no improvement then I would get a second opinion. You can try a veterinary dermatologist if you haven't yet. Also a round of steroids is probably a good idea if they haven't tried that yet. Steroids are also a good indicator of whether its some sort of allergy or not. If it doesn't improve on steroids than its less likely to be an allergy since steroids generally reduce the activity of the immune system.

Did the vet do a skin scrap test? You could ask the vet to test on bacteries and yeast but also to test on uticaria pigmentosa. It's known as a quit common skin disease by sphynx.

@Drewbee My boy had a similar looking rash that scanned over on and around his ears. Turned out to be bacteria. A round of antibiotics cleared it up!

I just joined for this same issue - vet thought it was allergies and I dont think it is...does the rash wipe off?
