Good morning fellow Larians,
My babies just got over Giardia with treatment consisting of IV fluids 2x, IV B12 1x, anti nausea 1x, metrodizonxale 2x daily, benebac (probiotic gel) daily lasted a week total. I cleaned everything with bleach/soap top to bottom and laundered all the linens (nothing new just everything they came in contact with) as they are indoor cats and I have no idea how they got a virus/bacterial infection. They do sit on and unscreened patio (2nd story no other critters besides the normal bugs). This week my calico baby developed a rash. It has been unusually hot out (heat rash?) and she is otherwise acting fine (eating playing- always sleeps a lot) but I notice she itches occasionally. Any thoughts on what this could be? Or if it’s time for another dreaded vet trip…

Thank you for all input it is very very appreciated!
Mina

It could be heat rash. See if you can limit sun exposure and see if it helps. I know you are rolling your eyes about trying to get them out of the sun more, but if it clears up quickly you will know it is simply that.

Definitely no eye rolling- I was thinking heat rash like babies! I have a blanket and fan set up and it’s not like direct sunlight but that’s honestly what I was thinking bc it’s everywhere belly back etc. hoping it improves heave her an oatmeal bath this am- thank you for the input!

@Nakittymom2 , awh glad to learn over giardia.. been there too with a pup many years ago.. it was a process for sure.

I live in FL , been hot hereand mine loove to burrow in blankies and try to sit in windows. they have had little heat rash bumps that cleared up quickly. I do dab a cotton round with trizultra with keto or vetericyn spray (not bathing all 3)
they do not wear clothing. do yours wear clothes?
I know mine are like little sweat balls just from burrowing in blankets.
keep us updated, big hugs

@Nakittymom2 I get the trizultra w/keto online chewy etc.

(Trizultra w/keto my go to for weekly boyd wipe downs , **not on face) and earcleaning (not flushing just wet cotton round qtips )to for a decade +) its dual purpose as a skin flush . my vet got me hooked on over 15 yrs ago with my pups and kitties. I get the 12oz for apx $24. I can go a loong time between full spa day baths with using the trizultra for wipe downs . really gets brown off bellies, legs, armpits necks compared to any baby wipe I ever tried.

the vetericyn spray also on line. very popular in group. local pet stores, like petsupermarket, tractor supply, and online.
the swisspers 100 % cotton and rectangle pads both from walmart.. and online.

** the swisspers were a nicer quality than the ones I tried from biglots and dollar stores** imho and were softer with less shredding are coming apart in 2.

keep us updated!
