I had a previous pet owner contact me about taking back a boy I sold to her two years ago. She got married and apparently her new husband does not want the cat.

As it states in my contract, I will always take a cat back, no matter the age or situation, that comes from my cattery. I am glad that she contacted me instead of trying to just dump the cat.

She states he is a great cat, very loving and healthy and she would prefer he go to someone that has experience with the breed.

If anyone on here is in the Atlanta GA area and is interested in this boy, please email me at [email protected] for more information. I am hoping to get him back this week.

Thank you,
Cyndee

That is so nice to hear that she contacted you. I have the same in our contract, I would hate for one of my babies to end up in the wrong hands.
I am sure you will find A home for him quickly, if I remember just last week one of our members was looking for A sphynx in your area!

Cyndee if you would consider a home out west I would take him.

Thanks Marnasobsession,

I will hopefully be getting him back this weekend and once I asses his overall health, temperment and have more information on him, then I will have a better idea of the type of new home he needs. I will certainly keep you posted as I do not have a problem placing cats out west as long as I can have them travel out that way safely.

I'm very glad she contacted me but sad that a cat is being given up because a new human family member doesn't want to deal with them. I can only imagine the sadness the cat will have missing it's mommy it's had for the last 2 years of his life.

It is sad stupid human! But better this way!

You are right that it's better but I just can't understand how people can give up a family member for someone that is not accepting of them. I'm single and tell everyone I date that if you date me, you date my cats! LOL... we are a packaged deal!

LOL... Don't know about you, by my cats are pretty good at picking out the good ones (lots of purring and rubbing) and dismissing (which they proceed to fart on) the bad ones!

 Yes, they seem to be a better judge than me most of the time. I really need to pay better attention to their signals...save myself a lot of time!

My Bf already knows that if it came to a choice with me between him and the cats, the cats will win hands down! He's not much of a pet person, but he's accepted my cats because he knows I love them more than him...LOL!

My boyf is an animal lover but has a prefrence to dogs, for a while he made out he wasn't into the cats, but now he tells them he loves them, takes them to the vets, plays with them and kisses them! When he comes round he goes straight to the cats and me after that! I don't mind though, it makes me love him more that he loves the cats! At the vets the other day he even said to the vet 'WE have another cat! So he know sees them as OURS not just mine which is great, they are part of my life and if he is part of mine we share them I say!

Thanks Everyone for the interest in this boy. He is currently on his way to live with his littermates family. They just happen to live near to his home that could not keep him and offered to get him and access him and see that he's okay. From what I was told he's quite overweight and fuzzy but otherwise, very healthy and a sweet boy. I will keep everyone posted!

Thank you!

Hey there! There is a Sphynx for adoption in South Carolina... He is a 3 year old black boy and they say he is very sweet. He was an owner surrender and seems to be in good health, other than being a little overweight. You can find the contact info in the sphynxrescue yahoo group if you're interested, or I can pass your contact info along. I really wish I could take him!

Sphynx Rescue in Toronto Ontario area?

Hi group, not sure if this is the right forum to post this in. Curious if anyone knows of any Sphynx Rescue organizations in the Ontario, Canada area? I am looking to volunteer some time with an organization (cleaning, assisting with food purchasing, etc, helping with promotion) but haven't been able to find any Sphynx specific shelters. If there aren't any that is a good thing I guess but just curious if more experienced members know of anything. Thanks and have a good day.

There are only a few Sphynx-specific rescue groups that I know of, located here in the US. And, they're a network of individuals/fosters, not actual shelters. You can find a listing here.

A quick google search didn't bring up any Sphynx rescues in Canada, but I know the US groups work with rescues in Canada whenever a Sphynx comes in.

Another great site to join if you want to be involved in rescue, is the Yahoo! Sphynx Rescue Group. Here's your link. A few of the members here on Sphynx Lair have adopted kitties that were posted on the Yahoo! group email list, including me - that's where I found two of my cats, Nelson and Mandy!

...not exactly the answer to your question, but hopefully these two links will lead you closer to what you're looking for!

Where exactly are you located? I am in Florida and would love to take the baby. Our family had a bad experience about 4 weeks ago. I adopted a sphynx from a family in West Palm and the poor baby passed away in less than 24 hours. She was only bones, she had green stuff coming out of her nose. They had told me that she had just a little cold but that she would be fine. They said their vet would not tell them how old she was. And they had a couple different stories as to how long they had her for. We picked her up in the evening and by morning before I could rush her to the vet she was gone. The vet said her cold had become more than that and not in just 24 hours. He also said she was horribly underweight and that she was so dehydrated! I had spent all night giving her liquids by mouth because at 3 am she just let out a scream and collapsed. It was awful to hear her like this. I started giving her liquids because I saw her gums. I held her and cried for her. The vet said she must have had renal failure. How can people adopt her out like this. Actually why didn't they adopt her out sooner? She'd still be alive now! And they have 3 other cats a sphynx and a calico. Now they won't even return any of my calls.
