My Sphynx kitten, Evening, is growing up. She will be a year old in a few days.

I will want to start transitioning her from her current food (Royal Canin Maine Coon Kitten kibble, Royal Canin kitten wet food, plus Weruva wet food and a bit of canned chicken breast in water for humans) to an adult diet. She also loves Greenies and Temptations treats, all flavors (I like to give her crunchy things to eat, hopefully good for her teeth, which I try to brush a few times per week).

I am not going to to feed her Raw food - without meaning any disrespect towards Sphynx owners who utilize a raw diet, it is not for me.

I am thinking of, for the kibble: Royal Canin (not sure which variety), Purina Pro Plan Lamb & Rice for Digestion and Skin health (recommended by her breeder, Acana (not sure which variety), and Hills Science Diet. I have read that high protein levels are good for Sphynx cats. I wonder if I should try to aim for a food that has Taurine as an ingredient - I think it's good for the heart (Evee has a low-grade murmur)?

I would prefer to use foods that, while nutritious, are not the most expensive, if that is possible. Of course, Royal Canin kitten food is fairly expensive, I think the adult food will be at least a bit cheaper. I do not buy large bags of kibble, the largest I would get would be 10 lbs. or less.

Evening is a picky eater, that's why I include the canned chicken breast for humans and some Weruva - she likes both. I plan to continue Royal Canin canned food for at least the next few months, though I'll move her to adult canned food.

Suggestions? Comments?

Forgive me if I am asking a question that has been asked before. Evening is my first cat, and, as I said, she is a picky eater.

@NewCatMom23 , awh... what day is Evening's first birthday this week? so exciting!

I feed what works for my crew . (my sphynx are all seniors now - 10 , 13, and 13 1/2 yrs old .. no skin or poo issues.
( Batman the oldest is picky and a dry food addict. refused all canned food, weruva, tiki cat and raw., so incorporated the hills urinary hairball dry)

my crew includes an 18 yr old DSH black cat and a bengal adoptee with IBD who is 12 now)

I have been feeding nutrisource cat and kitten food (bluebag, touted for gut health heart health and palatability , no recalls, I get online, not sold in big box stores) and a separate bowl of hills urinary hairball) for years no uti's , no skin or poo issues. I like they answer the phone too to answer any questions, nutritional profile in great detail on their site. they also same company that makes Purevita which is more expensive.

there is a store locator and online finder on the site. 6.6 lb bag apx $24.
lol I get the 16 lb bag on with my crew. they love it. I get online k9cuisine, petflow etc.

I wanted to share the acana grasslands formula was too rich , a no go for my crew with the new US based formulas regionally source. (used to feed acana when it came from canada) . they had loose stools and their skin got very oily quickly.

members with youngsters will surely chime in on food info. lots of good choices out there. always recommend a slow transition of food,

I believe catzzzmeow feeds wellnesscore
hugs n head smooches!

ps: my tobylove had a low grade heart murmur detected by listening with stethoscope in office by vet when he was 11 months old when I adopted him. could have been from stress and my vet said the grading is subject by vet listening to heart. on rechecks no more murmurs heard. Toby Love will be 11 yrs old april 1st.
