Noticed this on our Luna. At first I thought it was a food stain at quick glance. She is not in pain nor does she pick, scratch or lick it. It’s allergy season here in Phoenix AZ and scorpions are also starting to appear. Should I be worried? Thank you!

Forgot to mention. I did the black light test and it did not glow. It’s not on any other parts of her body. Again at first I thought it was a pizza sauce stain as if someone was eating pizza or marinara sauce and petted her. It’s raised slightly. Like a port wine birth mark all of a sudden.

Could very well be ringworm. Glad you got the appointment. @azolivas unfortunately the black light test is doesn’t not always work (my understanding 50% accurate) which can be frustrating. Will be looking for your update and what your vet thinks.

Wound up being ringworm. They used the black light to confirm. At first it didn’t glow but when they held the light at a certain angle it lit up like a xmas tree. They prescribed itraconazole liquid compound which I’m waiting for it to be delivered from the pharmacy. Thank you again for the replies! Have a great Sunday!

Still waiting on her medicine to be delivered however the mark is pretty much gone. Do you think I still need to need to have her take the medicine when it arrives in a few days ?

Does anyone have any experience with the itraconazole liquid compound causing skin issues? I think she may be having an allergic reaction to the medication. It is the only variable I can think of.

For what it's worth.... When Sunny was diagnosed with ringworm from a skin scraping (turns out he doesn't have it -- false positive) he had a horrific skin reaction the day after I began the itraonazole. The ER vet called the medication company, who said that skin reactions are not a known side effect of the medication.

Sunny also was on products with chlorhexidine (shampoo, wipes, mousse) though he'd been on those products for a week when the reaction occurred. The vet also called the company for those products -- it turns out skin reactions can occur from chlorhexidine. So no more chlorhexidine, ever, for Sunny! I've now taken him off ALL topical products -- shampoo, wipes, ear cleaner, etc. He gets wiped down with warm-water washcloths only.

He's just finishing up the itraconazole; today is the last day. And all his spots have disappeared. His skin is pretty much perfect.
