Removing crusty bits

Does anybody have any tips or tricks for comfortably removing crusty bits from around a kittens eyes.
I was thinking of warm water or a baby wipe type thing, but as I'm brand new to the wonderful world of the Sphynx, I thought I'd best ask first.
The crusty stuff is visible on the pic

I use warm wet cotton balls

@Joe, I take a soft paper towel and wet it with "hot" water from the sink. I wring it out, but not completely so that there is some soggy-ness to it.
I gently place it on each eye (one at a time) to loosen the crust. Then I turn the paper towel over to the clean side and I wipe the dirt away.

I used to use eye drops and cotton balls, but I found that the cotton balls had pieces of cotton that would stick to the little bit of fur on their noses and sometimes come off and get into their eyes. And the eye drops weren't as efficient as the "hot" water on the paper towel. I found this regimen to be the most effective and less irritating.

Leaving a moist pad on the eye to soften the crust up a bit is a great tip.

I have baby face cloths, and I think it is one of the grooming practices my guy doesn't mind me doing.

You are welcome. It's all trial and error that I came up with the routines I use on my sphynx loves now.

I agree..warm washcloth always works great for me!

Hot water and small amount of baby wash on a cloth. I wash eyes mouth and bum on my sphynx that has calici virus everyday and just bum on my other sphynx. They both tolerate it very well. Sookie with the calicivirus needs much more washing as her crusts hide sore areas which I must keep on top of.

I like to use baby wash cloths and warm water but recently I found a very moisten cotton ball applied on the eye for a minute does a nice job and is easy on delicate skin. Some folks also use tearless shampoo to clean stubborn crust. Good luck and welcome to the Lair!
