I have had my male for about a year now. His eyes are always runny. It is NOT accompanied by any other symptoms such as sneezing. I changed his food and litter and it got a little better, but they still are runny quite often. I am thinking maybe the shampoo I use? I use Johnsons baby shampoo and my other spyhnx has always been fine with it. What shampoos would you recommend for this situation? Any other ideas on what it may be?
Thank you!

Hmm, I use Johnsons baby wash too on Phoebe & her eyes a always watery but I've just assumed it was all the pollen going around here in Texas. It does seem worse in the spring and summer. Not as bad in the winter.

Maybe try switching washes first. Talk to your vet as well, maybe your little kitty is experiencing some allergies.

Welcome @AmandaP! I doubt its the Shampoo, many members use the Johnson's baby wash as apposed to the shampoo, both are fine. Have you tried Lysine? It does wonders for runny eyes, nose - etc, and many swear by it. :)

@AmandaP , I really like hylyt shampoo, l lysine powder for maintenance , dr elseys ultra precious cat litter unscented , and keep on hand Terramycin Opthamolic ointment which works incredibly fast within a day or two-
Worth asking your vet about Terramycin eye ointment.

I get hylyt shampoo around $14 - on line
L-lysine powder - Now food brand 100% pure - 1 lb of about $14 ( good info in help center)
Dr elseys ultra cat precious car litter blue bag from chewy.com
And Terramycin I got from adopts kitties previous vet

Keep us posted! Oops sorry the pics posted weird :)

Molly had one runny eye for almost 2 years... it started when she was about 8 months old, and ended suddenly this fall. We tried a few different things, and I honestly have no idea why it cleared up. It was just clear tears that would dribble out of her eye, with no other symptoms. One thing that the vet gave us that would give her a bit of relief was a product called iDrops. They were just for eye irritations. Hope you can get to the bottom of it, it was super frustrating to try and figure out.

Hi there , I have the same problem with Chief my little one :( My vet gave him 2 rounds of antibiotics because he thought it was flu but i really don't think is such. I thought it might be some kind of allergy as the season changed here in Shanghai. Did anyone tried with antihistamines?

Hi, have you tried Lysine? There are members that have used antihistamines, but I would surely check with the vet first. If it happens alway and not seasonally, I would say its most likely not allergies.
