It's with a heavy heart that I tell everyone that I don't think I will be able to keep my Razzle... I'm just not sure my house is the best place for her. I have a Great Dane that she loves and loves her back. He is a big guy and has already hurt her leg to the point I almost had to take her to the vet. My hubby thinks he is going to hurt her bad, next time the leg my be broken or worse.. She just loves him and is not scared of anything. Even though he tries to be gentle he is big and just cant.

I have to put her well being before my wanting to keep her. She has to be safe. I have even thought about trying to keep them apart but no one will have any fun if I have to do that. She would have to stay locked up and I cant do that to her.

Just thought I would let everyone know....

Please try not to feel bad! It is probably best to go with your gut on this matter and if your gut says your house isnt safe ....then its probably true. I had a neopolitan mastiff for 8 years and am well aware that these large gentle dogs would never hurt anyone on purpose, but they are very clumsy!!! Horizen was always tripping over his own feet and stepping on the kids and hurting them, so who knows what could have happened to a kitten! I can understand why you are woried. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best!

I'm sorry to hear about your decision. But your a good kitty-momma to be able to make that decision.
How many kitties do you have? and Does your doggie and then do well with one another?

So sorry to hear the bad news, but it is the right thing. Razzle's happiness and 67safety are what really matters. I am sure you will find him a great and loving home,so take heart and know that it is the proper thing to do.

Oh Shannon, I am sorry, but I think you are making the right decision for Razzle--you know a million people here wanted one of your berries, so Razzle will have a good life--maybe your mom could go back to taking two, and then when you needed a Razzle fix, you could easily get one.
Hugs to you cuz I know you're disappointed,

It's very hard sometimes to put their needs before our desires. You are to be commended for doing that. I know you must be heartbroken. ((HUGS))

Thanks Guys.... She's just so small, and he just so big it's not a good mix. They just love each other and thats some of the issues. Have you ever seen a 170lb dog try to play with a 1lb kitten:Sweat:??? Floyd and Blueberry get along great, but she was 5mo old when I got her.

Oh thats such a shame for you but you are being sensible and caring. It's not easy to have to do but you are putting kittys welfare first. I'm sure she will be quite happy as long as she goes somewhere she will be loved.

Shannon,

I know this decision is beyond difficult. I commend you for even being able to consider it. I'd just caution you not to make such a monumental decision while you are in such an emotional place, meaning your fear for Razzle's safety.

The kittens have been quartered of from Floyd up to this point, haven't they?
Blueberry might have been 5 months when you got her, Razzle might be younger now, but the reality is Razzle will be 5 months...10 months...6 years old some day. I understand you want the best for her and you don't want to set her or Floyd up for any accidents. I just honestly have to wonder if there isn't another way to do that besides rehoming. If I were you, I'd take a deep breath and really think this through.

I agree, don't rush into something you might regret. From what I have read from most catteries, you can't adopt a sphynx until they are 16 weeks, so you would almost be to the 5 month point. Just a thought.

I agree do not rush into your decision.
Our dog a German Short hair Pointer hurt Cocos son when he was a kitten.
I got a call at work that he was hurt and might die.
It turned out fine and he is now almost 8 years old now.
Is there anyway you can keep them away from each other?

We have talked and talked..My house is very small and right now I have the kittens in the bathroom (the only bathroom we have). I cant keep her locked in the bathroom tell she's 5mo old. That is just not nice..lol. I was told I could send them to there new home at 10-12 weeks(??) and now Blueberry is not feeling good and they cant even nurse anymore, I have to keep them apart. I would NEVER forgive myself if he hurt her. I'm still not 100% sure what I'm going to do. But if it comes right down to it, I would rather have her safe then keep her for myself and take a chance on her getting hurt..<<SIGH>>...I'm just thinking a different home may be best.

Could your mum not foster her until she's big enough to bring back to your home??? That way you could still visit, she'd socialise with her sister and you wouldn't have to say goodbye...

We did think about that, but she has lots going on and is having some health issues so it's not a good idea. One kitten is about all she can do right now.

That's such a shame and I hope she's gets better...Is there no one that could foster her for a while? Like Nair Bare maybe??? I wish I lived closer to you I'd do it at the drop of a hat just so you can keep her

You know I bet she would have, I never thought of that..
But sadly it's to late I offered her to a close friend of mine this afternoon. I cant tell her now I want to keep her, my friend would be heart broken..

I am sorry that you are having to make this difficult decision. I can only imagine how hard it must be for you....But since you offered her to a close friend, at least you will be able to visit her and still have her in your life if you do decide to let her go to a new home!

This will all work out in the end. Good Luck
