No names yet, I only picked them up today.
Both are 10 months old, Easter Egger hens that will be laying blue eggs, :)

Thelma and Louise are not happy with the current situation... We shall see how things develop.

Are they pets with the bonus of providing eggs?

They are insect control with the benefit of eggs.
My Janzè hens are hornet hunters. :)
The two Easter Eggers... well, I had two small bantams taken by a bird of prey, but I wanted more than 2 chickens... and these lay blue eggs, they were cheap (€20 for the pair) and they can murder the ticks. :)
And be pets. Thelma & Louise follow me around all day long. (I got cussed out by them today tho, because I brought new chickens lol)
Now everyone is in the coop together, and there seems to be peace and quiet.

They were a little spread out this morning when I came to let Thelma & Louise out into "the wild". Louise is definitely the rank highest. She will go for the new girls if they come too close. Thelma tolerates them to a point. Both Thelma & Louise are very interested, but don't trust them.
Thelma, at about 4:30pm, was walking up and down in front of the door, yelling as if she'd laid and egg -- but she was actually desperate to get into the egg box to lay -- which she did. Not bothered by the other two, so that's good.
Everyone had pasta...
I will probably let them out around Tuesday / Wednesday. Might be a bad idea, but they are used to free ranging.
We shall see... meanwhile, I get olive and blue eggies. :)
