Does anyone else find that their kitty's shoulders are not very prominent? Like her shoulder blades don't stick up from her back a lot and in-between her shoulder blades feels fatty.

I'm a massage therapist so I'm assuming cat's have muscles attached to their shoulder blades to fix them to the skeleton much like humans. Is this "fatty"/thick feeling just her muscles?

Also depending on how she's standing/sitting, if I move my finger up and down between her shoulder blades I can feel a thick band going side to side, and I can strum over it like a guitar. Is this a muscle? Has anyone else ever felt that?

It's not like a round lump, it just feels like a string that is connecting her shoulder blades to one another?

@LoonyLuna can you share some pics with us?
I tried taking a picture and it's really hard to see what I'm talking about, so I'm not sure it would be helpful.

But in the picture I did take you can kind of see the indent between her shoulder blades is not very deep. Also sorry it's blue, not sure how that happened lol

The vet says it's totally normal, I think you're right @yodamom
Plus being a massage therapist and knowing the benefits of massage I'd love to take her to a professional one day, I think she'd love it! But for now I'm incorporating her shoulders into her before bed face massage to see if that helps with some of the tightness

Hello!

Yes vet said it's totally normal, but I've been focusing on rubbing between her shoulder blades more often to bring down any tension she might have there.

But I just got home from a few days out of town and Luna was staying with a friend. Before I left she would snuggle up right in my armpit to sleep at night. Now she's way down by my legs I hope we can snuggle again soon!

I missed her so much but I almost feel like she didn't want to come home with me and preferred to stay with her sitter... I'm trying not to take it personally though!
