I am a cat show newbie. I learned a lot at my first show and look forward to trying it again. I was wondering if any of you who show put powder under your Sphynx' eyes or powder their armpits before going to a ring.
Back in 1992 when I showed Tanker at a TICA show, I was told that it was common practice by the Sphynx exhibitors to pluck stray hairs. I couldn't do it. Powdering under eyes and pits is something new. I would never have thought of it.
Good luck to Cleo and Wrinkles. Is Polar staying home this time?
Thanks,
I met Cleo and Polars breeder at the TICA Annual but we could not talk long because he was leaving for the airport.
He is where the Bombay is coming from.
Polar is staying home he bit 3 judges at the Annual so I pulled him.
I am just lucky he was not dqued.
I am hoping Cleo will be good she has not been shown since last year because she got a dq for smacking a judge.
Good Luck to you at the show.
I have a TICA show Oct 29th-31rst and I have to go because I joined the club.
Look like only Wrinkles will be shown there.
People do pluck fur and worse.
I have never done that.
Wrinkles has a furry tail.
You can use some powder if you want I know many breeders that do.
Did you buy her as a show quality sphynx?
Did you send her reg in?
Is she CFA or TICA?
I go to all the shows in your area and can help you learn to show if you want me to.
Cleo got chlamydia from a show last year.
Some people bring sick cats even though they should not.
They can get sick from shows but it does not happen all the time.
How old is your cat now?
I didn't know that, I thought I'd have to wait awhile. I will keep in touch- I want to get rid of this giardia stuff first before I focus on showing her Thanks
I have never seen any sphynx breeders do that.
Polar was very bad at the last show.
That mean Bengal tried to attack him at the Regional and now Polar is scared in the ring.
I was benched with a group of Egyptian Maus and noticed a lot of exhibitors spray some kind of herbal calming spray that smelled like juniper and lavender in their cages and on blankies they carried to the rings. Do you think something like that would help Polar?
